D1 prospects in the state of Kentucky Regardless of Class

The only "no doubt" is Simpson.

Really? I would think Collinsworth would be a "no doubt" as well. Quainoo with the numbers he has put up, that is why I said it in regards to him.

West has the size (6' 3", 200 lbs.), quickness, and cannon arm to go with a good level head and toughness. Is he going to play at Florida or Texas? No. But he's got the potential to play at some lesser D1 schools. And he's certainly got as much D1 potential as some of the names being thrown out here in this thread.

Ahh, yea. I was going to say maybe a small D1 would be a good fit. And I agree he has more potential than some being named.

I'm also in agreement with anyone who is disagreeing with all the Highlands names being thrown out. No doubt that Highlands has some great players, but that does not translate to D1. As someone else said in here, didn't the 07squad only get 2 full scholarship D1'ers?

Highlands High School

Adam Dempsey 6'-4" 248# OL/DL, 1st Team All-State Candidate

recently named, Top 26 players in NKY and NKY Coaches All-Star 1st Team

I think in this day and age, you might also want to add their ACT/SAT scores! No D1 school is going to give a kid a scholarship, unless he has a decent ACT/SAT score, you can count on that!

I really think people will be surprised how many D1's the Bird's have after next year. You have to realize that some of these kid's are playing different position in high school out of need. The difference between 07 and this group is the height and the weight of the players. Both groups are very fast but this years group are a little bigger.

So far we have 9 Highlands players listed. Any more we need to add to this list?

I don't think I said 9????
I think that is where he will go, if they offer. That is his dream from what I hear.

If UK was going to offer they more then likely would have done it by now. Robby is a great lineman, especially for this area but he is not an SEC caliber player. Most of the big D-1 schools have offererd there prospects by now. Not taking anything away from Robby but I just dont see him playing D-1. I think he would excell some place like Thomas Moore, Georgetown, Morehead and maybe at EKU but honestly I just dont think he has the size to play at UK. But I wish him luck and I hope he chooses a school that allows him to showcase his talent.

Not saying you did. But, in all, there have been 9 Highlands players listed and there ain't no way all 9 of these players - all very nice players, I'm sure - are getting D1 scholarships or are even legitimate D1 prospects. Kind of takes away the value of the thread when we just start naming every quality high school player out there and not the ones that have serious D1 potential.

I would say 5 of the 6 could be..

Agreed.

WOW nine HHS players going on to D1 :scared: and to think the entire CovCath 2006 state champions only had one D1 player! Darn if Coach R wasn't a better coach than even I thought he was!

He is, but I don't think that it's because of his skill level. Not trying to take anything away from him, but that's just how it is.

I think he has the size for a Defensive end in a four man front type offense. He does not have the size for an offensive lineman. But, with his strength and speed, he would fit in, as a Defensive End.

Whether he is a D1 player or a SEC player, I don't know, it seems to be something that he wants. I, personally, would like to see him at Marshall, selfishly enough, so I can go and watch him more(you know us Raceland fans we like to go watch our college players;)). But, I think he would fit in well at Marshall, or a like size school.

I could see him playing at EKU, Georgetown, Marshall, or even WKU. Either way, I wish him luck and hope he finds a place that he will be happy with, and gets his education payed for.

I do not see West as a D1 football player.

But I agree with the rest. Quainoo, Simpson and Collinsworth are no doubts.

Have you seen him play?

Do not be surpised if he does not go to a BCS conference team.
