All these players are D1 prospects? Come on.

D-I involves more than just the 6 BCS conferences.

It doesn't seem unbelievable to me that a school like Highlands could have 6 guys on its roster that are D-I prospects.

I'm sure their track record would bear that out...especially considering this thread included all classes.

I think Channing Fugate from Breathitt County is a D1 prospect.

He's a 6'3", 220 pound RB and LB/E on defense. Possibly the best prospect Breathitt has ever had for the next level because of his combination of size and athletic ability.

I'm sure their track record would bear that out...especially considering this thread included all classes.

I'm guessing the most HHS ever had in one class was the Lorenzon/Smith class and I'm guessing there were maybe 4.

You are correct about there being more than the BCS. I believe HHS has a few kids know playing D1 ball at schools such as Holy Cross .

Many of us are probably using different definitions of "D1."

Of course, we're up to 9 Highlands players listed in this thread as "legit" D-1 prospects. Maybe they are. Heck, I hope they all do go D-1. I have nothing whatsoever against Highlands (unless they're playing Ryle ;)). But not every quality player at Highlands - and indeed there are a lot of them - automatically qualifies as a D-1 candidate.

And, yes, I'm quite aware that D-1 encompasses more than the BCS schools.

#5 Larry Sullivan Jr.

Trimble County Raiders

5'10" 215 QB/RB/WR

118 carries for 1150+ This year alone

This Young man would make an awesome RB for Purdue, IU, Kentucky even Louisville, needs just one more step of speed and he would be unbelievable. Problem here is that he did not recieve the publicity that guys like Duece and Teipel got, but any of the recruiting/coaching staffs from these schools would be foolish to not look closely at his rushing capabilities. He sees the field very well explodes thru the whole and never went down on the initial hit.He also rushed for 1150+ yards with no line and starting 7 yards deep 90% of the time. Give this kid Teipel or Duece's O line and he would have rushed for 2000+ with out a doubt. Someone should be sending his tapes to every D1 Coach in the Tri-State Area.Good luck to this young man in his future. :thumb:

Strong hard nosed player but not a D1 running back IMO. I would like to see him play college football but I am not sure about D1 at all.

Dylan Curry (QB/DE) at Western Hills (Frankfort) is being recruited by several D I schools (UK, UL, Duke, Purdue). Most schools recruiting him as a TE, I think. He is 6'6", 235 lbs and a great frame to add 20-30 more pounds. Not sure of his bench/squat, but runs in the 4.7-4.8 range.

I don't think their high school schedule will really have much to do with it.

How can you say competition does'nt have anything to do with it.

Highlands 1968:

Tim Racke - Purdue

Rick Hoffman - Indiana

Clem Fennell - Cincinnati

Greg Oetjen - Cincinnati

Jim Waite - Cornell

# 61 Randen Collett (6'2 275 JR DT) Leslie Co. High School

Stats: 74 Tackles (42 Solo) 21 Tackles for Loss, 8 FF, 2 FR, 4 Sacks

Squat:(505-Parallel ) Hang Clean:(295) Power Clean: (285 ) Bench: (305)

40 Time: (5.16) Shuttle time:(4.29) Great Finisher, Nose for the ball.

-Randen had a excellent season despite being the focal point of the opponents offense. Double and triple teamed every play. Started on a defense that included 6 freshmen. Not alot of help.

-Looks to be close to 300lbs after winter lifting season. Wants to have his squat around close to 600(parallel), and both his clean numbers over 300. Wants to get his 40 time around 5.0.

I have seen this kid before. He is a powerhouse with huge legs that can squat the gym. But a 5.16 forty and a 4.29 shuttle? I do not believe that at all. That must have been a very nice stop watch to get him at those speeds. I would guess he runs a 5.3-5.5 at best. If you are correct then i am very happy for the kid. Since you call him a D1 player who is legit recruiting him?

Will Letton of Lex Cath. Already has offers from Miami(OH) and Air Force. He has been recruited by Wake Forest, Northwestern, and others.

Maybe it is a whole new thread, but how on earth is a kid like Ivan Lee (Belfry) not being recruited by EKU, WKU, Murray St. etc?

I am not saying he is bigtime D-1, but you can't tell me Murray State or Austin Peay couldn't use a 6'1 240lb strong kid who can flat run...

I think some of the smaller KY schools and MAC schools are missing out by not taking a look deep in coal country.

Quan Weaver Jr RB/LB

Not sure on weight lifting stats but he is a bull. Legit 4.4 kid who runs with both power and speed.

Rushed for over 2,000 yds this year with close to 30 TD's and his all purpose numbers put him at around 2,500.

Except for Beechwood, I dont think that anyone really kept him in check and he was close to 100 against the tigers top ranked run defense.

Right now he is getting looks from both UK & UL.

It is a very small amount in the process. If the schedual was such a big issue college coaches would be asking for several game films but they don't. typically they want 1 full game and maybe a highlight film then they want the kid to come to their camp. At the camp, when they are face to face, is when they draw an opinion. The camps are the number one tool that schools use to evaluate a player's ability not their high school schedual. I would encouarge every high school player that wants to get noticed to attend as many camps as they can.

I think an OL of Bell County, JR Mike Howard has a chance to play D1. and also SR kicker Monte Merrick already has a couple offers.

Yes, I agree with Mike Howard going D1. I havent seen anyone that can handle Him from any team, he is good.
