I have the pleasure of watching one of the best Sophomores in the state play on a weekly basis. Eastern High School's Jon Davis is a 6'3'' 210lb wr/rb who also plays olb and returns punts. He rarely leaves the field. He led his team in TDs scored and interceptions. Jon has been invited to and attended senior elite camps(UofL, Vandy). Jon plays against some of the best competition the state has to offer. He has received letters from UCLA,Stanford, and all local D1 schools. He carries a 3.4 GPA in advanced classes. He was voted 1st team all-district as a Freshman and Sophomore. Jon was clocked @ 4.7 in the 40. If he continues to improve academically and athletically he will have his choice of college.

Quan was over 100 yds. against Beechwood per Coach Buckett. He is a good one. :thumb:

I have seen this kid before. He is a powerhouse with huge legs that can squat the gym. But a 5.16 forty and a 4.29 shuttle? I do not believe that at all. That must have been a very nice stop watch to get him at those speeds. I would guess he runs a 5.3-5.5 at best. If you are correct then i am very happy for the kid. Since you call him a D1 player who is legit recruiting him?

 

 

He ran that time at a camp last summer. Also, his shuttles are as quick as any back on the team. He's quick, for about 10-20 yards. Randen currently has 23 film requests from DII and DI FCS and FBS schools. Randen has been getting mail from Eastern (FCS), Western (FBS), Liberty (FCS), Wofford (FCS), Middle Tenn. (FCS), Marshall (FBS), Bowling Green (FBS), Ohio U (FBS), Georgia St. (FCS), and Charleston Southern (FCS). And 7-8 DII schools.

 

No, he's not going to Florida or Ohio St., but, as someone mentioned in a post above, DI is more than BCS schools. And I don't think there are many BCS recruits in this state. Thats not saying the talent isn't here, it's just, not many recruiters amke the journey to Kentucky to recruit.

Maybe it is a whole new thread, but how on earth is a kid like Ivan Lee (Belfry) not being recruited by EKU, WKU, Murray St. etc?

 

I am not saying he is bigtime D-1, but you can't tell me Murray State or Austin Peay couldn't use a 6'1 240lb strong kid who can flat run...

 

I think some of the smaller KY schools and MAC schools are missing out by not taking a look deep in coal country.

 

I think so too. A run to the state championship game may get him in the spotlight. Usually, there are some Belfry players who go to Marshall, because they see alot of their games. I know in the 90's, there were some linemen who went to Marshall, I think they were Blackburns, am I correct on this?

I think in this day and age, you might also want to add their ACT/SAT scores! No D1 school is going to give a kid a scholarship, unless he has a decent ACT/SAT score, you can count on that!

Adam is making a name for himself throughout the State of Kentucky!!! I haven't talked to his old man lately about interested colleges but I think Adam will get offers after the State Championship game. Keep up the good work Adam, you will be an asset at the next level on and off the field!!!

Oliver Head is probably the most deceptive. Most touchdowns on the team with the fewest touches. Scores every 4th time he gets the ball. Loves to come up and hit on defense. Plays like a kid twice his size. Would be a excellent special team guy at a D1 school.

Quarterback Tony Guidugli of Highlands now has an offer from the University of Cincinnati. Also, junior wide receiver Austin Collinsworth of Highlands was a guest of UC at the UC vs. Pitt game two weeks ago.
