heard earlier that it carries a 3 years prison term, but I can't imagine he would see more than 3 month's in a halfway house if convicted

Why do you say that?

There is an out for the NFL commisioners office. This falls into the "Personal Conduct" rule, whihc has been quite gray of recent years. Bottomline is the commish can suspend indefinitely. The player has the right to appeal for reinstatement, but the commish has final say. We've seen it with Pac Man, and Odel

And after one offense, I doubt the commish would suspend him for life.

May not have to if he goes to jail. It would then turn into the same situation as Vick.

Why do you say that?

First offense, and lot's of lawyer money

We have gun laws in this country for a purpose. A big part of that purpose is so punks like The Thug don't possess/carry them. Bad things happen when idiots have guns in their hands and he's darn lucky he didn't shoot, and possibly kill, someone else. He absolutely should face criminal charges and will hopefully serve substantial jail time. Good riddens. The man seems to take pride is all his fines/suspensions/bad boy behavior. If playing in the league is so problematic for him, then be done with him. I'm sure the NFL and the Giants will somehow survive if The Thug is no longer around.

To be in law enforcement you sure are confused on the law. We don't have gun laws to keep "punks like The Thug" from possessing or carrying them. As long as he is legal he has just as much right to possess/carry as anyone, if he would have done it legally.

He is not legal. He does not have a permit for the state of New York, and his Florida permit is expired.

Although, I don't think calling him "The Thug" is appropriate. I can't imagine you get much street cred for shooting yourself in the leg.

Do you think that Coughlin gets tired of "Coach, with regards to the Plaxico Burress incident......."?

"I'm shot! I'm shot! Pierce, get me outta here...I shot myself!"

I don't understand how these people plead not guilty....Let me get this straight..

He HAD a weapon in a NYC night club.

He does NOT have a permit to carry the weapon in NYC.

The gun was fired (accidental or not) in the night club.

So how again is he pleading not guilty?

If you plead guilty, you take away any chance at plea agreement. He pleads not guilty now, and then the attorneys can work out a deal where he picks up garbage on the side of the road and pays a fine to avoid going to jail as all athletes do.

And this is a gripe that I will always hold with the justice system, but that's an entirely different thread.

Put Plaxs head on the body.
