Even if I do ever work in "real law enforcement" one day, that doesn't mean I'll want to kick every gun totin' player out of the NFL. Plax messed up...he'll pay the price. Whether that price is a hefty fine, a suspension from the NFL, a release from the Giants, jail time...he'll pay the price if he is convicted of a crime, I guarantee that. And even if he is released and is no longer a Giant, I still don't think he should be banned from the NFL after this one thing.

I'm unsure why you would want any illegal gun totin' player in the NFL (yes, NFL players have the right to legally possess firearms like any other citizen), especially someone like The Thug, a player who has done nothing but shown a continual lack of respect towards his teammates, his coaches, and the game itself. Yeah, I say let's be done with players such as this. The game is better than these people and will survive not having them around. In fact, it will be better without these thugs.

I don't think you can kick someone out of the league after doing it one time. If they are a repeat offender, and they continue to embarrass the NFL off the field (Pacman, Chris Henry) they should be suspended for life. If Burress continues to break the law after this case (he may be in jail too long for that to happen anyways) then he too should be suspended for life. But not after this one case.

There is an out for the NFL commisioners office. This falls into the "Personal Conduct" rule, whihc has been quite gray of recent years. Bottomline is the commish can suspend indefinitely.
