Corbin 14-13.

We can't play football down here and you know that. We're just a bunch of hicks that only recently figured out what a football really is. Why our offense is nothing but 3 yards and a cloud of dust or maybe this Friday, 3 yards and a wad of mud. We don't have a kid that can run under a 6flat forty, I think only one benches over 100 and maybe two squat over 150lbs. Its sad, sad, sad. What's really sad is we had to use old car license plates for thigh and knee pads this year. Things are real bad. The worst thing is our coaches don't use those fancy headphone sets, they use two cans with a string and last week some redneck kid cut the string and the coaches lost all communication. We ain't got a prayer.

 

Everybody knows that Corbin is a very good team. Nobody goes into a game like this and thinks that the other team is anything less than stellar. I believe that the kid was a Soph. last year, but the running back who looks and runs a little like Jones-Drew from the Jaguars was a beast last year. Throw in the tradition and how hard the kids play from Corbin play and everyone knows that this will be a very hard hitting game. I don't see either team winning by 3 scores.

Corbin is an Independent School District but we cannot accept out of district kids unless there is a reciprocal agreement. Laurel County doesn't reciprocate. Whitley and Knox County do but we get very few students from these districts. We do not recruit kids from these districts . . . if they come to our school from another district that reciprocates then they pay a tuition to do so. Like I said, unless there is a move into the district we get very few students from surrounding counties. Apples to Oranges.

2 things. 1. That guy said that he was a NKY fan. 2. This is the second thread where you have made mention of NewCath being private. If I'm not mistaken, Corbin is Independent. If this is true, than Corbin actually has more of a benefit than NewCath does. Corbin can take its students from outside of their district, just as NewCath can take students from around the diocese. The advantage would be that kids in your district go for free. Throw in that your facilities are top notch, and you have no gripe w/ NewCath being private.

 

Also, your team had very little to do with snaps going over the QBs head. Had it been that we were executing and Corbin stopped NewCath then I would say that Corbin stopped NewCath.

I personally like Corbin playing against the private schools, even though private schools have beaten Corbin out of the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years. These teams(NCC, LCA, Owensboro Cath, Lex Cath, DeSales) always have strong fan support and they play good, clean football.

Then we are even as NewCath maybe have one or two players from outside of Campbell Co. Sorry for the attitude, but when people throw in the private/public garbage, in my mind, it takes away from how hard the players work to get where they are.

I think strength of schedule will play a big part in this game, I have to admit that I don't know much about the teams Corbin plays but I do know about the teams NewCath plays, they beat Simon Kenton pretty handly which is a 6A school who is now in the semi finals this week, they also beat Ryle, Conner, Beechwood. They have played close games and find a way to win those games and with the experience of the NewCath backfield (Kelly & Kues) I think will be to much for Corbin. What I find interesting is no one mention's how well Mark Kelly has been playing he will be a load for Corbin and it is hard to believe that the Watkins kid is better than him. NewCath is very athletic and has so many weapons they can go to. I wish Corbin luck but I don't think they can stop the NewCath offense which is hitting its stride at the right time.

I believe the defense has been playing it's best ball as of late. The offense with it's turnovers and inability to move the ball on occasion has put its defense in some difficult situations. If the offense can live up to it's ability, I think it should be a good state final!

I know nothing about this year's Corbin team. Sounds like they run, how is their passing game?

I believe the defense has been playing it's best ball as of late. The offense with it's turnovers and inability to move the ball on occasion has put its defense in some difficult situations. If the offense can live up to it's ability, I think it should be a good state final!

 

Up until NewCath's last game, they had been tackling pretty well, but not finding receivers. Last week, they didn't tackle well and didn't find receivers, they were just much better than De Sales. Against a team as physical as Corbin, you have to make sure tackles and not allow the Hounds to extend their drives. Corbin, I imagine, will have to pass a little more than normal, so that will be a key to the game.

I think it will be a knock down drag out and intense Catholic is good. But the Hounds are not 13-0 for nothing I felt like Corbin could have won last year but it did'nt happen. But I feel like the Hounds will be ready for this game and will be more physical and the big strong backs will wear on Newport Cath. the big O is playing well also. The Hounds will win this game on D so I will say. Corbin 24 Newport Catholic. 13. :dancingpa:dancingpa
