That's true ... that was bad, but in the AP Poll, the one thing I like is that you know who is voting in the poll or what publications ... in other polls, they seem very secretive for some odd reason. I believe every poll should list who votes in them, but I guess that won't ever happen.

They scored 4 touchdowns against Beechwood and lost a fifth on an "aiding the runner" flag just before the half. Beechwood throttled Prestonburg by 29 so, Yes, NCC can certainly score 4 or 5 touchdowns against Corbin.

 

Will they? Each game is different and strange things can and do happen in the playoffs. This will be a game of high emotion and the team that controls the tempo and turnovers will have an edge. But I would certainly understand that NCC is a very dangerous offensive team.

I know you can't compare scores, but....

 

Corbin struggled last week with Prestonsburg, who Beechwood beat very soundly, and Newcath beat Beechwood pretty soundly even though the 31-20 score isn't a good indication.

 

I think NCC might be a little too much for the Hounds.

I honestly hope that NCC comes in with the attitude that you guys have.

 

Corbin's game against Prestonsburg is a perfect example of why you don't compare scores.

 

Corbin played Pikeville and Pikeville racked up nearly 400 yards, Corbin won like 23-16. Prestonsburg held Pikeville under 100 yards and beat them 41-0.

The weather is looking like another cold one too! That bermuda grass can get really slick with a good frost! This is one obstacle I had not thought about!

Corbin will be much more physical in this game than they were last year, a game that the kids know that they should have won if they had played close to their capabilities. A steady dose of Watkins, Campbell and Taylor will give the Hounds a very good chance Friday night.

 

I seem to remember a team that made it to the 2A finals back in 1977 with a Watkins, Taylor and Freeman in that backfield as well. I just remembered that all three of their dads were on the 76 championship and the 77 runner-up team..............

Five turnovers killed Beechwood including one fumble returned by NCC for a TD. But a key factor to mention from that Beechwood game that NCC has as a weapon is special teams. NCC had two long punt returns against Beechwood. NCC special teams will be a factor that Corbin better prepare for. Look for NCC to make at least one big play on special teams in the game.

This matchup just keeps sounding better and better. I am going to make a prediction that the player of the game will be Kues, the NCC QB. He is experienced, poised and can make big plays with his feet or his arm. If it is a tight game, he will make the play needed to win.

Just as a curiosity that I had, I did a little research on northern Kentucky teams vs. (what is considered) Kentucky mountain teams. I know this means nothing as far as this game is concerned (neither does comparing scores), northern KY teams has 2 wins in 9 games against KY mountain teams this year.

 

Beechwood had a win over Prestonsburg and Highlands had a win over Johnson Central.

 

Lynn Camp beat Dayton; Whitley beat Newport; South Laurel and Knox Central beat Holy Cross, Johnson Central beat CovCath and Holmes; Prestonsburg beat Cooper.

 

Like I said I know this means nothing. I was just curious over some comments from another thread.

We can only hope the bloodlines are still running deep in the present day Hounds and they can have a shot to play for all the marbles. Seems winning maybe genetic as well.
