This may not be the place to do this, but prayers are needed for the brother of Corbin senior WR/DB Corey Sewell. His brother Clayton, is a student and baseball player at Univ. of the Cumberlands and he had a car accident a little while ago in Williamsburg and is being flown to UT hospital in Knoxville.

 

Wow. Do you know anything else? I know Clayton and the family well.

I just got word that Clayton Sewell has a severe concussion but has no internal bleeding and has been taken for x-rays. Just in case anyone wanted to know. Keep the prayers coming!!!!

That's good news. I saw him at the game last week and he had his shoulder in some big contraption following surgury too. Hope for nothing but the best for the young man.

Yes, Frank was another all-american at Notre Dame in football as well. He also was Minor League player of the year while in the NY Mets organizations. He has another uncle (dad's brother) who was a D1 athlete at UK

 

He played at Notre Dame, but wasn't an All-American there. He was their #2 TE behind Derick Brown, who was an All-American. They ran a ton of wishbone, so he was on the field much more than most #2 TEs are now.

Thanks mexitucky. I knew Frank was a solid football player, but overstated. I guess it was injury that kep him from being #1? Didn't Brown graduate before Frank, but Frank got injured?

Yes, he is. He has improved more b/n his Jr to Sr year than any player I've had the opportunity to watch at NewCath. I've seen so-so players become good players, but I've never truly seen a good back turn into a dominant one like this. The only thing that I can like it to is the change that Eddie Eviston had b/n after his JR season when he just dominated as a Senior, but even that is off b/c Mark had a much bigger impact as a junior than Eddie did. He is a very hard runner and has found an extra gear making for a lot of long runs.

 

I don't know if Mark Kelly got that much better rather than his o-line doing a much better job. I think he ran almost as good last yr as he does this yr but if you remember right he was getting hit in the backfield alot last yr, as soon as he got the ball most of the time, and usually broke that tackle and got some kind of gain, but this yr the o-line is letting him get started and i think teams are now having trouble stopping him when he has a hole to run threw!

Jacobs played on the last NCC team that came to Corbin.........and beat the Hounds out of the playoffs some 20+ years ago. I thought that he ended up playing some OT as well at Notre Dame.

It's a combination of both. I do feel the line has done better, but Mark has matured as a runner. He didn't see or react to the holes at the beginning of last season. He ran on pure instinct and athletecism. He started maturing as a complete runner towards the end of the season. This year, he came into the season with the maturing that he gained from last year, combined with the O-Line play, he has now turned into one of the better backs in the area.

I believe Frank caught a TD pass in the National Championship game as a Jr. He switched to baseball in his senior year a Notre Dame. I still see him around town. He is still huge. I think he is a dealer at one of the casinos in Lawrenceburg, Ind.
