This stuff is paid for by the school....hopefully all of the improvements to facilities will attract some great applicants...

Which "stuff" are you talking about the coaching position or the cleats, arm bands etc?

All salaries, positions, personnel, etc. are paid for by the BOE.... the schools athletic department pays for armbands, cleats, etc....

It's my understanding that Mr. Coleman is a volunteer, and this is not a paid position.... he is retired KSP....I just hope his weight training philosophy, routines,, etc. match what the new coach wants.... if not things could get a little interesting....

BigDaddy, hopefully this is something the both of them can sit down and work out a solution, this has to be a big help to a coach for someone to assist in this aspect especially someone with George's background. Dr. Hughes is big on students being physically fit, he noticed that our boys on the football field were laying all over the place by half time while the other team was still going strong, I really believe this is something that can assist the entire GCHS athletic program and beyond.

Sorry, but wrong on the athletic department - check out the TD club paid for the cleats, armbands plus sent the coaches 1 time to the Tony Franklin System, plus the shirts & hats just to name a few of the things other than decorate the lockers, and make goody bags and mow the grass.

Mom55.... if you doubt that the athletic department is paying for a LOT of stuff, then just go to central office and request the financial records.... they are all public, you just have to ask for them.....I remember hearing Ailster say one day that they spent 12 to 15 thousand on football...... which isn't enough by any means, but he said it's all that they could afford to spend....

I agree completely... the Wheelersburg game was terrible, we had at least 10 kids coming out with cramps, etc... and the 'Burg didn't have one come out... but that could also be due to the fact that we haven't had 2 a day practices in the summer or gone away to a camp in four years......

Well first we have to hope that the arm band system will be long gone... Second, as far as the day to day stuff, shirts, hats, etc. The Booster club will still have fund raisers for these types of things.

This is very exciting, and has been overdue. The boys really need someone with experience guiding them in the weight room. With the majority of the football team in "Weightlifting class," we should see improvement in our boys if this class is taken seriously in the future.

I can only relate to you what I have been told by folks within the system and that strength and conditioning are going to be a very high priority of Dr. Hughes, Matt and Chris, not just for athletic program but for the entire school system. I really believe that the new coach will also be very high on strength and conditioning, if he is from a winning tradition, you just about have to be at the top level of fitness to get there.

The only bad thing about a weightlifting class is you only have 45 to 50 minutes to strech and lift which is not enough time. The weightlifing class is it the last period of the day?

Yes, weightlifting is the last period of the day.

Not only is the wieghtlifting class short at GC but, only a hand full of kids even do all the workouts and do them correctly!

Players not finishing the workouts or doing them correctly shows on the field. What I mean by it shows I mean not able to get off blocks, broken tackles, jamming the receiver/tightends and "POOR BLOCKING"! The weight room can change a record by 1 or 2 wins/loses a year.
