WKYT out of Lexington reports that at least one gunshot was heard from within the James P. Callahan Residence Hall around 4 A.M. this morning. Callahan is the new 460 bed dorm that opened this year on the old Lakeside property. Students were notified and the scene was quickly secured. No injuries were reported.

NKU is located in Highland Heights, KY.

Callahan is the unofficial "Greek housing" if I'm not mistaken.

I haven't heard anything about this yet, but I'm wondering if it may've been an accident.

 

Perhaps MJ can help out on this if he's heard anything, but the dorms are secured, you have to have a student ID that must be swiped in order to enter the dorms, and your ID has to actually show that you're allowed in. So not just any NKU student could go in and out of the dorm area.

The whole thing isn't Greek Housing, just two sections of it. There is also an Honors section withint the building as well.

 

Didn't hear any gunshots at night, guess I was passed out, and our window was open too. So if this really did happen, it must have happened on the other side of the building. My wing is on the John's Hill Road side too. I really haven't heard aything besides the e-mail that was sent out about the situation.

The shot went out a window, NKU President Jim Votruba said this morning during a Board of Regents meeting.

 

Both students and non-students were involved, Votruba said.

 

"The student is cooperating with campus police," he said. He would not identify the student. A key card is needed to get into the dormitory, he said. Votruba would not say whether anyone has been arrested.

I was just getting back on here to tell ya'll that i heard it was shot inside. Pretty crazy stuff if you ask me.

Im going to go out on a limb and maybe say the Wiggles were involved. They performed at BOK Arena last night nearby. LOL My 2 yr old loves those freaks from down under BTW.
