NFL Films Saint Xavier vs. Trinity...thoughts?

Some of the posters on this thread do not represent the same spirit that was presented in this piece. Most of you do have your passions and priorities in line as is exemplified in the program. Congrats to both schools for the work they do in molding young men - as do the schools and coaches at many other places around the state.

To paraphrase Booker T. Washington: "There are two ways of exerting one's strength. One is tearing down, the other is building up."

Seems to me that tearing down is dangerous. Its pretty easy to get caught in the rubble.

My son told me this week that Wes is no longer with the Cards. Considering some of the players that are wearing jerseys for the Red/Black I think they might have let a good one slip away and this comes from an avid Card fan. He was an absolute joy to watch (except for one play at FB:D) play even back in his St. Martha days.

On a side note, my father was great friends with Wes' grandfather growing up and he swore till the day he passed that (Wes') Grandpa Harry LaPaille was every bit the athlete of another West End talent named Paul Hornung.

Then you know the background on this right? This kid deserved a scholly.

Just want to echo that it is very unfair to be criticizing Victor Anderson. My son played with him, and I know nothing of "antics." I do know that on "Future Tiger" night this year he must have signed autographs for two hours. He is a nice young man.

I agree...he is a stud! Like I said, there are some wearing the Red/Black that aren't near as talented as Wes. Big mistake on the Card's part IMO

I have the technology to take a program from the DVR and put it onto a CD. I would be glad to make copies for whoever wants one.

There is a family that had two sons playing in the 2005 game (one for each team) that might offer some insight regarding this. :sssh::sssh:

My point exactly-thanks for confirming. The 2005 Senior Tiger wasn't a "star" while wearing the green/white so he got what he deserved. Fortunately, he learned from his mistake and moved forward while at X.

I want to chime in and say yes he did. But in Division 1, it i big business. Think of the talented seniors on both teams and think how many got scholarships to Division 1 schools. My quick recollection of the players in Wes' class that went division 1 was Robey, and Matt Smith. Nate Coomes and Jack Hilt got appointments to the Army and Navy. Maybe someone else can jump in but Dutton, Stein, and Kupper are walking on at UK and U of L. WEs told me it just wasn't the same as Trinity and he wasn't having fun. Hats off to Trinity and X for giving great kids great memories and the film captured a slice of what is right about the programs.

Is this show going to be broadcast again at some point?

If anyone can answer this, I know several people who missed it that would love to see it, myself included!

I would appreciate that very much. PM me with details. Thanks:thumb:

As far as Wes goes, he is a top notch player, and an even better young man. However, he was right, college football isn't close to as much fun, as playing at Trinity or X. My experience playing college ball tells me that. BUT, you have to give it time, and it becomes a new realm of fun, it's different. I wish him the very best, and know that he will be successful in any endeavor he so chooses.

GoRocks!

I would love to pay you for the time and DVD if you wouldn't mind...I think that is such a very generous offer! Please let me know how to proceed...if you are willing to make a DVD copy like you suggested in your post.

I would be willing to pay you in advance. Us Tiger and Rocks fans can trust each other off the gridiron!

A great business opportunity if I ever saw one!

I'm not selling them just giving those that didn't get to see the show the opportunity. It is a keeper.

This thread has been interesting and I expected a lot of emotion from the show because it is an intense rivalry and you guys have not disappointed.

One of the most interesting facts that came from the show was that Louisville produces 90% of the disco balls made in the U.S. That was a newsflash!

Good luck to both teams in the next few weeks.

One thing I thought was really great on the T side was the annual steak dinner the week of the game.

Also, after seeing the Trinity "TD" in high def several times, I still don't see how the ref could have called him in. The player caught the ball with his back to the goal line and his heel didn't even touch the line. In the end it doesn't matter as T at least picks up the first and likely scores with a new set of downs from the six inch line.

Lastly, Phillips has some serious guns for a guy his size.

My friends and I about fell out our chairs on that fact.:laugh::laugh:
