As far as your son goes, somebody has to go to school on Poplar Level Rd. ;)We simply do not have enough room for 2900 students on Shelbyville Rd.

 

After 25 years or so of dealing with Mr. Glaser I can assure you he is no saint when it comes to dealing with his student-athletes. :irked:

 

I simply add one quote from him: "I wish Trinity never existed". His brother Bill echoed this sentiment a few years ago when Trinity was at LexCath for a scrimmage that was in a weather delay.:devil:

In the world they grew up in it didn't exist much. It probably wasn't around when Bill went to High School. Flaget was the school that was X's rival and the funny thing is that it was a Xaverian Brothers School as well. I am not slamming the coaches at Trinity, it was just an echo of what a Trinity fan posted about how Glaser has other motives besides winning. The video on Saturday really portrayed that and after listening to Beatty on the field I have a better agreement with those statements. My son would not go there and I live in St. Matthews.

I am sure X will as well. I know their road is notoriously more difficult but they will be there to settle an issue for sure.

I know both coaches. I think the way they were portrayed was fairly accurate. However, while coach Beatty always keeps focus on the final game of the season, coach Glaser take the T/X game personally. After all, it been a part of him his entire life - and that's OK. Anyone who knows coach Beatty knows that he cares about his kids just as much as any coach out there. Ask a kid who is in the know about some of the things coach Glaser has said to kids in the X halls when they have a younger brother that decides to go to T. Coach Beatty would never accost a student about that. Maybe the best litmus test is asking the question, "Would Victor Anderson have gotten away with such antics at T?" I think not.

Wow...did I strike a nerve with a few people. There is no ax in my garage so THS, you should think otherwise. Maybe my view on the NFL films may be different than others, which is no big deal. If you knew neither of these coaches, you may walk away with the same opinion. As 17 Time qouted, Trinity Football is about winning. End of story.

First off, Great Film. My family has been around Trinity football for as long as any of us can remember and we were definately real proud to see this rivalry being portrayed as it was. First classs!

 

And as the Beatty thing. That film showed why he is a winner. He expects nothing less from his players. Do you think college coaches are going to be babying their players when they move on from high school to the next level?? I think not. So why slam a coach for his desire to not only win, but prepare his boys for the next level. And Coach Beatty not only loves his players, but the whole Trinity student body. As a graduate of the class of 2007, I know for a fact he loves the students more than a lot of people think. Just look at his emotions after beating St. X in 05 and 07. Those were not because he was happy for himself. He was that way because he knew how much that meant to the whole school. I mean i dont know if anybody goes to the celebrations at the school, but in 05 if I remember correctly, he teared up in the middle of his speech. So to say Beatty doesnt care about the kids, think again.

As most people on both sides have already noted, both coaches are accurately depicted, and their tones and actions are no different than they are in real life. The best course of action is to let everyone (especially those who are not already knowledgeable about the schools and their coaches) watch the video, and they can then draw their own conclusions as to which coaching style they prefer.

Certainly not, he would just get suspended from Winter sports (which he didn't participate in) or for a few games leading up to the "important" one. You shouldn't throw stones when you live in a glass house. :flame:

17 time you are correct. At Other schools it is all about the win...and all about football. WIN at all cost. certain coaches care only about how many "W's" he gets. As long as it is his way "the team" concept is what Coach stands for. Certain coaches care that the players get wins for him. He does not worry or care about what happens to these young men once they walk out of the doors of certain schools.

 

Also don't ever, ever, ever try to put another coach in the same class as Mike Glaser. it will never add up. I wish the rings you wear dictated the life you will lead.

It's really awesome how much you love X, as we do Trinity. You, Glaser, us Beatty....leave the attacks somewhere else please. Both are great programs, and these childish jabs aren't painting a great image. Good luck, hope to see you Dece 5th :thumb:
