We dedicated our Veteran's Day program at church this weekend to Sgt Major Morris. I am so proud to have him in my family and in my church family. He taught me for 4 years, allowed me to be his teacher's Aide my Junior and Senior year, is still a major influence in my life and I miss having him around. My sons, like me, look up to him and he always take time out for them at cookouts and at church. They both write to him in Afghanistan often. He is most definitely one my heroes.

 

Wendell Morris exemplifies what being a Raceland Ram is all about. It's about doing things the right way with integrity and always giving everything 110%. Friday night Raceland will take care of business with class and get ready for next week.

Was that game in Nicholas Co.? For those of you criticizing the Daily Independent, do you realize that they had to lay off some of their staff this year, and that Mark Maynard has had to help out with sports coverage along with doing his daily editor duties? The sports staff has two full time employees to cover how many local schools? I realize that everyone wants to see their kids names in black and white, but it's just not economically feasible for the paper to be able to cover all the schools, and keep everyone happy. I know Mark Maynard would love to hear from anyone who wants to help cover games for the Daily Independent.

No problem. I know Rocky (Stanley) & Mark (Maynard) well, & they're classy guys, along with Adam (Vankirk). I wish Grant Traylor (now with the Huntington Herald Dispatch)was still with them. He used to cover alot of Raceland games, & it seemed like he lived with the team in 2006 (LOL).

My complaint wasn't based off of this year. I think it's not been as bad this year as previous years. But the rams did go 10-0 so that may be why. They had a great article on Logan. Followed with a short article today about bieng number one in class a.. I do however think a article on Denton and carver as a duo would be nice!

Last year a little beofre his current deployment Wendell and his wife (my cousin and who is also a teacher at Raceland) brought me a deer that had already processed and wrapped for the freezer. They realize my limitations and a unable to get out and hunt like I would love to so he killed me a deer and brought it to me. Mrs. Rambler and I are still using that venison. That is just the kind of people that they are. Raceland/Worthington Schools are blessed to have the both of them as teachers and role models for young people.

I have written the Independent several times about the same. Raceland never get's the respect it should. One of the answers I received was " we do cover them, what more do you want?" We want the respect that you give "ASHLAND, RUSSELL, OR EVEN IRONTON!

 

HECK THEY GET MORE RESPECT HERE IN HAMILTON, OHIO THAN THEY DO IN ASHLAND. SHAME ON THE INDEPENDENT.

Hey now, I can do a pretty good job of that on my own thank you very much, LOL. As a matter of fact, Ram heard same of thoise same speeches from some of us old guys when he was playing,LOL. I along with some others remember coach Ben Pumphrey at Nicholas Co. years ago. Now that man as the undisputed king of "el toro poo poo", LOL. Coach Pumphrey was a great man and a great coach, ws respected by all. Coach Pumphrey passed a couple of years ago. May he r.i.p..

LRCW, If you re-read my post, I am not complaining about coverage. I am just pointing out that Raceland wasn't shown much respect in the Super 7 poll. I think the coverage has been wonderful this year, especially in comparison to several years ago.

I think we need to praise our defense a little here at Raceland. As always stressed by myself and other 'mad ramblers', Defense truly wins Championships. It was posted on another thread about the top 10 teams in the state on Defense in regards to ppg. We are tied for 10th with only 130 points against this year. Taking into consideration the Coaching staff at Raceland is too classy to embarrass it's opponents, had the JV in many games for almost 2 complete quarters and gave up 37 points. That leaves 93 points scored on the varsity players! 58 of those points were the Russell and LCA games.

 

Congratulations Rams defense on a great regular season! Keep up the pit bull mentality for the next 5 weeks and bring back a trophy!

#2 won and finished 10-0 and #1 was beaten and finished 9-1. Makes sense to me that #2 would vault ahead of #1. Unless the Super 7 is using the BCS computers.:lol:

I hate to burst your bubble, but Johnson Central would beat Raceland rather easily. Just because a team has better record, it doesn't mean they are better than the other team. Do you really think Raceland is better than Johnson Central?

That is not how polls work. Often times, the 'best' team loses and gets knocked out of the #1 spot. Do you really think Alabama is better than Texas or Florida? I don't, but they haven't been beaten, so there they sit.

 

I really do not want to sit and argue with you over this topic, when in reality it means nothing. The original post of mine stands, Raceland gets no respect when it comes to where they are this season, which is #1 ranked by the AP, one of only 6 undefeated teams in the state and #10 in the entire state with a defense that gives up 13 ppg. We have also beaen every team in the area that we have played. Sounds like a #1 area team to me. Your only argument is that Johnson Central would win head to head. This is only an assesment, my points are ALL facts.

The only fact you posted was that Raceland was undefeated, and ranked #1 in the AP for class A. The Daily Independent poll is based on who they feel is the best team, not who has the best record. The pollsters at the Daily Independent feel that Johnson Central is the better of the two teams. For them to come in at #2 is plenty of respect, but you refuse to see thru those orange colorered glasses. You refused to answer my question as to whether you honestly feel that Raceland is better than Johnson Central, or if you feel they would beat Johson Central.
