The damage she's done to her image is too much to overcome. And from what I can tell all she is capable of is populist rhetoric, anyhow.

She'll be around for years as she seemed to connect with the conservative base. Given that a major knock on the Republicans is that they have gone away from their base she could be well positioned down the road to assume a leadership position in the party.

While I do not see her as President, she can maybe head up the Energy Department or something similar in the next election. She will still be a major attraction on the GOP side.

I guess this is something we'll just have to agree to disagree on. She may have held her own on several issues but overall Biden made her look silly and you could tell who the overall better running mate was for Vice President.

 

I agree that Biden won that debate, ... but everywhere except MSNBC, the pundits were very impressed with her overall performance. She directed some questions straight at Biden that he never answered. The difference was experience. Give her a few more years in the public eye and running her state as an executive and she will make an excellent candidate. Her conservative and straightforward stance may disturb some in the media and many liberals but I think she will be a very viable candidate.

 

A lot depends on what happens with Obama's presidency. If he does a great job, it won't matter who runs against him. If he is mediocre or bad, there will be a groundswell of candidates and with her connection with the conservative base, she will be on the short list.

 

BTW, have you considered the questions I asked on the other thread about Obama's policies. I really do need clarification on why his 'change' is best based on his proposals.

She may not but it wouldn't shock me. She would have to decide this morning that she wants to be the POTUS in the future and she would have to go after it. Her problem would be when would she take a crack and how much experience she can gain. She may not want to get drilled 4 years from now if Obama is poular.

Stephens won his seat but cannot serve it.

My understanding that in Alaska the governor DOES NOT get to appoint the seat.

But a special election has to be held within 90 days.

Wonder if she will run for it.

8 years of duty in Senate (assuming O gets two terms) might get her ready for a presidential run in 2016.
