One Nation Divided in to Two

Wait are you comparing homosexuality to pedophilia or gay marriage to pedophilia? Because the latter makes no sense.

Both, and it makes perfect sense. If things continue on the course they are on, the day will come when a 35 year old man will be able to have sex with, and marry a 9 year old boy, or woman with a young girl and it will be legalized by some of the states

Being a homosexual is not illegal. Therefore being a homosexual is not illegal.

Pedophilia, is illegal. It is against the law. The two can not be compared.

And I think you couldn't be more wrong when you say that having sex with or marrying a young child will be legal in this country in the near future, or ever for that matter. I do not see that happening.

I don't know how old you are, but I can tell you that 50 years ago I never thought there would be a debate or issue on same sex marriages.

And some people probably never thought that minorities in this country would have equal rights.

Some things change because change is the right thing to do.

Some things stay the same because that is the right thing to do.

And I am 22 years old, if you want to know.

50 years ago (well, I was only 3 at the time), I didn't think that the divorce rate among heterosexuals would be in the 50% area.

Wait a minute - I just had an epiphany. The anti same-sex marriage crusade is the brainchild of the divorce lawyers!:D

What minorities do you speak of? Surely to goodness you aren't comparing the discrimination of African Americans to homosexuals?

Your logic seems a bit off....and I have been around as long as you.

African-Americans = discriminated against for the color of their skin.

Homosexuals = discriminated against for their consentual action behind closed doors.

While there are differences, if you notice that it's almost always been hyper-religious southerners doing the discriminating, you can also see it's a fair comparison in HB20's argument.

Southerners? 52% of Californians just declared that they'd like homosexual marriage to be banned in their state.

Half of California is southish. :/

It hardly matters who is doing the discriminating, the fact is HB20 is not as off base as Mr. Wildcat is trying to push him.

HAVE YOU EVER EVEN BEEN TO THE SOUTH?!?!? It's ridiculous to suggest that racism is strictly a product of the south. The absolute WORST race riots in the 60's and 70's were in Boston for one, sure not the south. When Lincoln first freed the slaves he wanted to buy one of the islands in the Caribbean to send them too because the North didn't want the African-American's. I have lived in the South the past several years and I see less racism and more cooperation between races here in the deep south than I ever did in Kentucky and places in the far north I have visited.

Lord, I think we have dangerously strayed from the original thread.....

Probably, but that's the point of everything I said in the beginning how this thread shows the anger on both sides to me is just the beginning.

While there are differences, and African Americans were treated very badly in this country at one point in time, homosexuals have been treated pretty badly as well.

How many times has a homosexual been beaten, killed, or insulted because of their sexuality in the United States? It happens...

If you are working 40-60 hours a week and raising a family, is that always possible?

Of course it is, it just depends on how hard someone wants to work. I never said it would be easy, just doable.
