November 7, 200817 yr HAVE YOU EVER EVEN BEEN TO THE SOUTH?!?!? It's ridiculous to suggest that racism is strictly a product of the south. The absolute WORST race riots in the 60's and 70's were in Boston for one, sure not the south. When Lincoln first freed the slaves he wanted to buy one of the islands in the Caribbean to send them too because the North didn't want the African-American's. I have lived in the South the past several years and I see less racism and more cooperation between races here in the deep south than I ever did in Kentucky and places in the far north I have visited. That's part of WHY I called them out specifically, actually. My firsthand witnessing of racist attitudes have always been worse in the South. One state in particular, which though I've only been to once, has had more than it's share of history: Mississippi. I think my comments are being blown out of proportion, though. I expected the 'hyper-religious' part to be the thing people would be offended by. But that's on the same level as my southerners comment- obviously not ALL southerners, and obviously not ALL very religious people are the ones discriminating.
