Other than the state championship game, I don't think either team will see an atmosphere this exciting the rest of the season. The miles that separate the teams that both Russell and Raceland will meet in the playoffs usually lowers the crowds for those games. You have to be a hardcore fan (like a message board poster or something) to travel a few hours to watch your team play! Tonight's game will draw out the more "casual fan".

I don't know about that, I have been contacted by people for directions and information that are coming from Pike County, Lexington, and Northern Kentucky to watch this game.

 

I think there are going to be more then just casual fans there, this game has taken on a state wide interest.:ylsuper:

I think that you can see that some have disrespected you and your program.

Don't let all of that talk get to you, it means nothing!

Stay diciplined, stay focused on your game plan, don't be too high or get too low, stay even tempered like you have all season, play each play...finish the drill, leave absolutely everything that you have got on the field with no regrets that you could have played harder or concentrated a little more!

Dad, I have no idea what your problem is in giving people credit for anything and a not going to try and figure it out. I will just address a couple of staements in your post that for whatever reason you saw fit to make. That is fine, you have right to post what you want but just remember so do others on here and thiose opinions mattrer just as much as yours. So with all due respect and for the statements that I have highlighted...................

 

1.) Yes, the last unbeaten regular season team at Raceland I believe was beaten in the 1st round and your point is:confused:.

As for the really good years and really bad years I believe that all schools have those, For a school as small as Raceland to have as as many GOOD years that they have had imo says alot about that school and tradition. There are far bigger schools that haven't had a fraction of the wins and good seasons. district titles that Raceland has had.

Ashland and Russell are two that have been blessed with great traditions as well. I don't think that you will find any Raceland poster trying to cut those programs like imo you are Raceland. That is your option though, I personally don't choose to insult or put down anyones program.

 

2.) As for "bragging about tradition", why should a school and it's fans only talk about it on certain weeks?

I don't know about you and how you feel about your Tomcats and/or Red Devils but I personally don't just brag on my team when it is convinient or when we are winning. Most people at Raceland don't have any use for "Bandwagon" fans that just cheer and brag when their team is winning. I have always said to people down here that if you are going to cut your team down when they are losing then don't come back around when they are winning an claim to be a loyal fan. Should you feel different, that is fine just please don't critisze people that son't feel that way. I prefer to keep it positive myself....negativity breeds negativity.

 

3.) :confused::lol: Win or lose tonight means that we win or lose tonight, not sure what you are getting at but tonight has nothing to do with the next 25 years. Should a teams fans only support them if they win a certain number or pct. of games or something?

As for Ashland and Russell having some good talent coming up....I am glad to hear it. I like to see all schoools have and develop good talent and good kids. I can also tell you that Raceland also as some very good talent coming up as well, the Rams JV is also unbeaten this season.

 

I do give Raceland plenty of credit, and after reading my post it seems I came off a little bit to harsh. I enjoy watching the Raceland program grow. It's more based on personal communications out on the town with Raceland supporters, than on here. It seems like most/all pretty much, Raceland supporters want to hinge 50+ years of football history and tradition into one season because Raceland is very good this year, and Ashland and Russell are not what they should/could be. Although Ashland has really picked up their play this season. It just seems from talking to many Raceland fans, if they win tonight, then they are suddenly the best football school in the area. Now I'm not saying any of you Raceland posters feel that way, but you all are a small fraction of the fans, and seem to be more level headed than most I run into. Especially those 30 and under.

An update on David Bailey: I know his brother very well.

 

He is still out with grade 3 turf toe. Will not be playing tonight, I saw someone stated that he would be, however, I just confirmed the opposite.

Funny,why do you say that? Raceland undefeated and Russell on a losing streak,the player's better be worrying more about there girlfriend's than this game i am thinking.Hate for one of those Russell boys be over there talking to the Raceland player's girl friends.:sssh:

 

If anyone is worried about their or others girlfriends more than this game then they have problems.

Should you want to concentrate on that then have at it.

Pride and tradition IS what makes a great football program. And we have both here in Ramland. Oh, It's 79 years of history and tradition.

It's a Raceland thing, if I had to explain it, you won't understand.
