Corbin thinks that the only way we will get to play Bell Co. again is if we can get enough students to get to the 4A level...........or maybe Coach Hilton is sending students this way.:laugh:

 

Maybe since they aren't playing Bell they could schedule Williamsburg who has been trying to schedule Corbin back the last three years.

I wonder how many othe schools will be playing in a class too low nest year?

It would seem to me that the KHSAA would have to answer some of the question being posed here;

 

1. Why are they using out-dated enrollment numbers to set the alignments?

2. Does this give certain schools a competitive advantage?

3. Can these alignments be changed if they were to use the most current enrollment numbers?

 

Corbin can only play where they are put by the KHSAA and I don't think they deserve the grief for playing 2A. Although with the enrollment advantages that they have at this time (from the above posted numbers) then they should never use enrollment as an excuse for anything. Unless they are playing X or T then that is an excuse everyone gets to use.

I think the KHSAA should browse this over. This is what classes are for. You can play up if you want, but you can't play down. So,they should be moved up.

I don't think that the KHSAA wants to have to redistrict every year. Can you imagine the confusing of scheduling for the schools? I think that Corbin will have to move up with the next redistricting and will have to adjust their schedule accordingly.

They redistrict every 2 years and they use a 2 year average of the male enrollments to decide football playing class alignment. It is a process that takes time because they allow schools to petition to change their playing class and they have to vote on those petitions. It doesn't happen overnight and it isn't black and white.

 

The most current redistricting is for the 2009/10 football seasons and was finalized in the past 6 months. It looks like they used the 04/05 and 05/06 enrollment figures for this redistricting.

 

It seems reasonable to me that more current enrollment figures were available. I'm assuming at the start of the process the 07/08 enrollment figures weren't available. What I'm not sure about is why not use the 05/06 school year and 06/07 school year for your two year average? Looking at the chart I made above, I think it is clear they didn't use those figures.

 

If I am wrong on my assumptions, or if more current enrollment figures were not available at the time the redistricting was done, I hope someone will set the record straight and point out my mistake. :thumb:

I believe that you are exactly correct and it has been set for at least six months.

Teams should be forced to play THEIR class, no up or down movement.

Leave no leeway for restructuring. What it is is what it is, enrollment wise. JMO.

I think they will...................but not because they are dodging anyone as I don't really buy that theory about Somerset, but because of the number of teams that would put in each district affected.

I think playing up is fine, Highlands has no problem doing it. I think that the Bluebirds playing in 5A gives more credibility to 5A or at least recognition.
