It sure seems like Corbin's enrollment has grown since the last realignment, and since the chart in S3's second link was compiled.

 

At 366 boys, they would seem to be right in the middle of 3A.

Thats some nice info. More than the top 3 in 3A Poll and 5 alltogether. 3 Less than Sheldon Clark.

Class 3A ... the interesting question is that if Corbin was that big in 2006-07, why are they still in 2A in 2009 and 2010?

 

I asked this question when the new alignment came out and I believe that someone said that the KHSAA used the 05-06 numbers for the alignment. Their enrollment for the 4 year period ending in 2007 is 706 and the 2 year avg. is 684. I'm not sure why they used old numbers for the alignment, but their current enrollment would put them in 3A unless I'm mistaken.

Corbin has been receiving a lot of good press concerning CATS and ACT scores. There are families who send their kids to Corbin that live in many other school districts and several area towns mainly because of the academic reputation and environment.

 

I can't see it growing to 1000 students because the overall population is not growing that fast. There are approximately 200 students per class currently in the lower elementary grades and the class sizes always grow when they reach the middle school, so I see it topping out at the 800-850 students max.

You could someday see Corbin playing in the same district as Bell, Rock, and Knox. They're not that far apart as it is.

Man, that would make the Bell people happy. But seriously, are they gonna leave them in 2A? It would be a merger situation, without a merger. IE: Mercer Co./ Harlan Co.

There is commonly some fluctuation in boys enrollment, but some show trends, either upwards or downwards. According to this, Corbins enrollment has really been on an upwards trend.

I honestly thought that Corbin would go back into the district with Wayne Co, Garrard Co., Somerset, etc. in the new alignment...........I'm not sure why they use the numbers from the classes that graduated the previous two years in determining the alignment instead of using the number of kids who are actually in school at the time.

North Oldham's huge influx in 3A doesn't surprise me as that area is growing FAST... but what has caused Sheldon Clark's enrollment spike over the past few years? That was by far the most confusing stat I saw, + 43 compring the most recent single figure over their previous 03-05 2 year average.

 

Corbin's last individual number is +52 over their past 03-05 two year average.

 

North Oldham has had nearly a +100 since the 03/04 year to the previous.

Corbin thinks that the only way we will get to play Bell Co. again is if we can get enough students to get to the 4A level...........or maybe Coach Hilton is sending students this way.:laugh:
