Next year, if enough of you pledge to come to Bardstown for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival bourbon tasting, I will make a BGP event out of it. I will thrown in some of my own Bushmill's Centennial barrell and some single malt and scotch whiskeys so you can sample some empire whiskies. THERE WILL BE NOTHING FROM CANADA OR TENNESSEE PERMITTED UNDER MY ROOF. I may even be able to wrangle a private guided tour of Maker's Mark. October 23, 200817 yr Never with Coke, Sprite, Ginger Ale, or any other thing like that. Depending on my mood I may have a Manhattan. My normal drink is Four Roses Single Barrel served neat at room temperature. The absolute best is Pappy Van Winkle but I don't think I've had it since I ate at Kreso's a couple of months back. Growing up partially in Nelson County I developed quite a love for bourbon. I do like Scoth but admittedly know very little about it. I know that I'm not a fan of the cheap blended stuff but I have had Scotch that I like. Maybe someone on here can spread some light on the more common brands. The only time I've ever had Irish Whiskey is in some kind of mixed drink/ shot so I can't say much about it. I haven't really tried many American whiskey's besides bourbon and don't really intend to. Like single malts, the blends can get pretty pricey. Chivas Regal and Johnnie Walker Black won't break the bank and aren't bad.

I suggest to anyone who is indecided on bourbons to try Talbotts Tavern Whisky Bar. 5 premium Ky shots for $25. A deal and a half. I tried to rounds in two days. Absolutely awesome experience. I tried to get my friends to go to the Bourbon Festival this past year but they couldn't get off work.

October 27, 200817 yr I'm not a big whiskey person to be honest, but when I do partake I prefer Woodford either straight up or on the rocks. As far as I am concerned, mixing a good bourbon with any type of soda (Coke, Pepsi, etc) is tantamount to putting ketchup on a good steak. I've never seen you turn it down. Plus the quality of whiskey you'll have I can't pass it up. Sounds like an awesome time. I forgot another bourbon I really like, Blanton's, it's what's at my apartment right now. Blanton's is very good and may I add Booker's to that. However, for me I prefer Kentucky Tavern and Coke Zero. I know, I know. I blame it on the college years.
