October 23, 200817 yr I rarely have one but when I do I prefer a good Ky. Bourbon on the rocks and/or with a splash of water. Makers or Woodford are the best and I even like Jim Beam at times.
October 23, 200817 yr Beginning to think back about my first time every trying Woodford. It was in like January of February a few years ago. I'd just gotten home from school that day and picked up fith of Wild Turkey on the way home. It was supposed to snow hard that night so I was just staying in. Was around 5 or 6. My step dad see's what I've bought and decided to break open the liquor cabinet and let me try out some of his more expensive stuff. My poor sister was in high school and came home with about four of her friends and we've got about five different bottles of liquor out and are drinking them all straight. I felt so bad, her friends had to think we were straight alcoholics just laughing and telling stories while drinking all this different liquor at about five pm on a cold winter thursday. I couldn't help but just smile and laugh. Needless to say it barely snowed that night, and work was a bit rough the next day. But I fell in love with Woodford Reserve that night.
October 23, 200817 yr I don't claim to be a connoisseur, but I have found over the years that there is more variety in single-malt scotches as there is in virtually any "category" of food or drink.
October 23, 200817 yr Never with Coke, Sprite, Ginger Ale, or any other thing like that. Depending on my mood I may have a Manhattan. My normal drink is Four Roses Single Barrel served neat at room temperature. The absolute best is Pappy Van Winkle but I don't think I've had it since I ate at Kreso's a couple of months back. Growing up partially in Nelson County I developed quite a love for bourbon. I do like Scoth but admittedly know very little about it. I know that I'm not a fan of the cheap blended stuff but I have had Scotch that I like. Maybe someone on here can spread some light on the more common brands. The only time I've ever had Irish Whiskey is in some kind of mixed drink/ shot so I can't say much about it. I haven't really tried many American whiskey's besides bourbon and don't really intend to.

October 23, 200817 yr I cannot and will not drink Jameson. It's an Irish Whiskey, and apparently many people think very highly of it. For me, the very thought of it makes me cringe.
October 23, 200817 yr Seriously people, the way to go is Basil Hayden. It is easily my favority Bourbon Whiskey. If you have not tried it, Basil Hayden is wonderful. Please partake.
