October 21, 200818 yr Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh saw nothing wrong with the block. "The guy doesn't see you coming, who doesn't do that?" Houshmandzadeh said on Monday. "Keith didn't see him coming, he cracked back on him and it just was unfortunate what happened. But every receiver in the league would do that, if they had an opportunity. They just don't get them too often." Keith Rivers could say the exact same thing and Bengal fans would still say it was dirty...

October 21, 200818 yr I could not agree more. This team is embaressing in that aspect. Your captain, team leader on D.. nobody strikes back. That's like someone throwing at Jay Bruce's head and our pitcher do nothing. Yes, I mean I'm not expecting someone to go into a coma, but if that my teammate I would think you are head hunting with revenge in mind. That wasn't just some cheap shot with no effect, he is done for the year. I look to see Hines taking a few pretty rough shots next time we play the them, no dirty shots, but something extra every play.
October 21, 200818 yr If Hines Ward hits Rivers any lower, they're both out for a long time. Ward was protecting himself. Any lower? You mean launching your helmet into Rivers jaw is protecting yourself.
October 21, 200818 yr Chad Uno weighs in.... "I'm mad about Keith getting hurt," Ocho Cinco said. "I don't think (it was a cheap shot). The play is going on; players are going after the ball, a crackback block, which is what it is called. You have to have your head on a swivel at some point." I read all these quotes on the Bengals website too, that were taken right after the game. I know Chad did not see it from the bench all the way across the field or any of the others on the bench. They all saw the replay on the Jumbo tron as I did. At that time I thought it was a good block until I got home and seen the replay up close. Wait until they see the film. That's his M.O. That's what he's known for," Ndukwe said. "You expect that coming in. People are going to take their shots when they can. Too bad he can't hit someone face up. It's too bad he has to wait until he's not looking to get him. It's unfortunate. It's the type of guy he is. That's all right. We play them again. He's a blind-side guy."
October 21, 200818 yr Author I love everybody crying that it was a helmet-to-helmet hit. First of all, it wasn't. Secondly, if it was, don't you think the referee standing RIGHT in front of the play would have thrown the flag???...I believe so.

So Rivers broke his jaw from the sheer force of the wind off the hit???

October 21, 200818 yr Author So Rivers broke his jaw from the sheer force of the wind off the hit??? Who knows? Can you prove that Ward's helmet hit Rivers', or are you just basing it on the fact that his jaw is broken? And also, are you implying that the referee blatantly ignored a helmet-to-helmet hit?
October 21, 200818 yr Author You are right Deuce officials never miss calls. Standing right in front of the hit, and obviously looking that way towards the ball carrier, yeah, I doubt he missed something that is apparently so obvious...
October 21, 200818 yr Looks like the top of Wards helmet hits Rivers on his left side of his jaw. I don't think it was helmet-to-helmet but rather helmet-to-chinpad. You could technically say the chinstrap is part of the helmet but it wasn't actually helmet-to-helmet IMO. I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night but I would say that impact (top of helmet to left side of jaw/chin) did the damage.
October 21, 200818 yr Author So if he is fined for the hit will you change you opinion? Nope. If the NFL says it was a dirty hit, I will disagree. Now, if you show me a different camera angle that clearly shows Ward's helmet impacting Rivers', I will admit being wrong.
October 21, 200818 yr Who knows? Can you prove that Ward's helmet hit Rivers', or are you just basing it on the fact that his jaw is broken? And also, are you implying that the referee blatantly ignored a helmet-to-helmet hit? If you can't see the point of impact on Rivers' jaw, I'm not sure what to tell you. Only one object contacted that area. The crown of Ward's helmet. I would be done if I didn't have to make the same obvious conclusion over and over...
