At the end of the 7 minute video, Colin Powell summarized his reasons in the thirty second, verbatim quote that I transcribed and posted above.

Except that Powell said that John McCain would make a fine President. You are right. I am voting for McCain because he isn't Obama. Colin Powell is voting for Obama because he isn't a Republican, more or less.

I guess. I actually liked both choices, so I am one of those rare ones that it wasn't who I was wanting to vote against, but who I wanted to vote FOR.

I don't know if rhetorical ability is a sufficient qualification to be President, but I have to admit that it can be a helpful quality. IMO, part of the reason FDR was a good President is that he instilled hope in the minds of the American people (as opposed to his New Deal programs).

I apologize for bringing race into this thread, but at this time I will agree with Rush. Powell's endorsement of Obama is nothing but race. I can't give the exact quote by Rush but it goes something like this...Research how many inexperienced liberal "white" candidates Powell has endorsed in the past and you will see race start creeping in.

 

Powell claims to have been a friend of McCain's for 25 years and highly respected him. He's just getting to know Obama and turns his back on McCain????

Just for the record I am a registered Republican. That being said, the reasons for this are two fold, in order to be allowed to vote in every election I have to register with one of the two major parties. I more closely (though not entirely) align with the Republican platform, thus my choice. I vote issues and choose the candidate that I believe more closely aligns with Judeo-Christian values. I would never knowingly vote for a pro-abortion candidate. Call me a single issue voter if you wish but I feel God honors those who stand up for the unborn who cannot speak for themselves. Both parties have huge issues, the Republicans in my opinion have less.

Feel as you wish. If one posts an ambiguous post, then one can expect that misinterpretation should ensue.
