AP Poll ...9/28/08

Featured Replies

Your basing that on wins against UofL and two D1AA teams and bad Middle Tennesse team that they did not look that impressive against. Explain to me how you arrived that this defense is twice as good as last years? We will find out how good they are Saturday.

Ask Maryland how bad Middle Tennessee is. Anyone who knows anything about football will say that the UK defense has improved significantly.

Oh yeah, I forgot to throw in there:

- 4th rated total defense nationally

- 1st rated scoring defense nationally

- 13th rated pass defense nationally

- 13th rated rushing defense nationally

- 20th in turnover margin nationally

- 3rd rated pass efficiency defense nationally

- 2nd rated first down defense nationally

- 1st rated red zone defense nationally

- 5th rated 3rd down conversion defense nationally

- Allowed 2 TD's in 4 games

- Allowed 909 yards in 4 games

Now, I don't care who you're playing against. You don't put up numbers like those unless you're doing something correctly on defense.

I don't care who lost behind them, USC only dropping 8 spots is a joke.

Where would you put them?

WKU is a Div. 1 team now. Middle Tennessee beat Maryland at Maryland the week before UK, and Louisville seems to be putting up some pretty good numbers against decent teams right now. It is obvious UKs defense is vastly improved, but that that does not make them an elite defense in the SEC just yet. We will find out next week if our defense is that much better than years before. I won't say we win, but Alabama will not put up that many points against us IMO.

I know WKU is technically a D1 team now but they aren't much better right now then a D1AA team. Louisville is still not the Louisville of a few years ago. I definitely agree that the defense is good but I still won't say they are vastly improved over last year. Last year's defense was very good.

Keep hanging Middle Tennessee on that Maryland win. How many other win's do they have, oh that's right none.

We'll revisit your thoughts on Saturday evening :thumb:

I guess I should get my affairs in order and seek a bunker somewhere. Vanderbilt and Northwestern got more votes in the football poll than Florida State, Michigan, and Tennessee.

Here is a list of the AP poll for this week....

3 LSU 4-0 1,466 5

4 Missouri (1) 4-0 1,453 6

5 Texas 4-0 1,362 7

6 Penn State 5-0 1,252 12

7 Texas Tech 4-0 1,105 10

The full list goes as follows.....

The tide only losing to Oklahoma by about 36 points. Not too shabby.

If they continue down this path against Alabama, Flordia, Georiga, Tennessee, I will agree with you. But based on who they have played till now they should be ranked per the above.

USC only falls 8 spots?!?

Honestly I was pretty surprised to see them dropp off that far.

I pray your right and I am way off.

I can't see South Florida staying in the top 10 very long.
I'd argue that point, but I don't know which team is going to show up week to week. The one that beat Kansas and stomped NC State or the one that squeaked by UCF and FIU. These guys are trying to kill me. :scared:

Doesn't matter, though. RayJay will be rockin' Thursday night. Especially section 115. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

USC shouldn't be in the top 15 after that loss..

Ohio State was ranked in the top 5, lost to #1 and fell out of the top 10, USC losses to an unranked team and goes back 8 spots? come on now..
