Raceland 37 LCA 35

Featured Replies

This was a great high school football game, between two great teams, and two very good programs. The game was won by a team that had a great game plan to stop a teams RB who was averaging, I would guess, over 200 yds a game. He was held to 45 yds in this game. That is what decided this game, nothing else.

No matter what you think about the officiating, you can't think that the Raceland players, parents, or coaches had anything to do with it. The officials are a third party in any game, they are not Raceland or LCA, they are the officials.

The reason that LCA had so many penalties, in a game that did not have many penalties until the forth quarter, was do to desperation. LCA was losing the game and was making every effort to get into a position to win the game, as good teams do. Many, many, many teams who are loosing by one score in the forth quarter accumulate several penalties while trying to get into scoring position. It always happens, and if you are an avid fan of football you see it a lot.

I have seen Raceland, over the years, get a lot of desperation penalties trying to score at the end of a game. It is very common. In the fourth quarter, LCA had several holding penalties trying to spring a big play. That is understandable.

Bottom line, this was a big game between two big teams with a lot on the line. It was won by a team that executed a solid game plan. Both teams are very good, and played very well overall.

I agree that Raceland deserved to win the game. Any team that gives up 34 points in 24 minutes of high school football clearly does not deserve to win the game. My only argument would be that the actions shown on the video were not worthy of an ejection. The player should be allowed to play next week.

I hope the fair thing does happen, but it (ejection) happened to us last year in a rival game. Our player was being punched and tried to avoid it and both players were ejected. It was clear on the video that our player did not throw any punches and we appealed but it was denied.

I watched the video clip you provided. Thank you, BTW. It is not conclusive, IMO. It looks like there was an extra downward motion of the foot that could be seen as a stomp/kick. I think he was just making sure his foot got free. But his body language was angry, which adds to the kick argument - especially if you're the official and have to make a spot judgement.

Looks like a GREAT game. Coingratulations to the Rams. Keep up the good work.

That's the way I saw it Graybeard. It looked like the foot came down with a little extra force but it could have been the fact that he had just jerked it out of the hands of the Raceland player. You could certainly see some aggressive body language from the LCA player but this is football, you see that from most players on the field.

That's a tough call for an official to make.

C'mon, GB. Look how he's holding the foot/ankle RIGHT AGAINST his own helmet & facemask. ANY movement is going to look close to the head, because, by definition, it already IS close to the head - #11 is holding it there!!

What's he supposed to do? Wait there and say "pretty please let go of my foot" to #11? It's the HURRY-UP OFFENSE!! He's going to say (or at least, think) "let go of my stinkin' foot", and pull away as quickly as possible.

If you watch closely, you can see him dragging the Raceland player on the ground as he is pulling his foot away, not even close to a personal foul

The same official ejected a Raceland player two years ago for the exact same thing against Ashland. Different officials have different tendencies. He is a very consistent official.

Raceland:

Denton 22 for 131 Rushing 4 for 28 Receiveing for 159 total yrds

Carver 18 for 91 Rushing 1 for 6 Receiving for 97 total yrds

Boyles 12 for 16 for 185 yrds passing

McKee had two receptions for 60yds

LCA:

Hayden 12 for 45 yds rushing 6 for 60 receiving for 105 total yrds

Whitt 6 for 21 yds rushing 21 for 32 for 317 yds passing

Burdette 6 for 90 receiving

Hartly 4 for 57 receiving

Townsend 4 for 57 receiving

Meehan 2 for 53 receiving

Penelities:

Raceland 4 for 25 yards

LCA 8 for 70 yards

FYI, those of you who have been on here a while may remember EagleEye. He has not been a member for a couple of years, but he still helps out LCA's football team.

EE told me to tell all of you in Ramland that you guys have THE BEST venue/atmosphere for high school football he has ever seen. He said that this is not hyperbole. The fans, community support, food, everything was outstanding! And he said you have the absolute BEST concessions he has ever eaten at a game.

Well, assuming LCA takes care of business, I look forward to sampling some Ram hospitality myself some time in November.

:thumb:Good to hear Bluto, I am glad he enjoyed the experience, I hope the both of you get to enjoy it again in about seven weeks. I will be looking forward to it.

This sounds like one of many outstanding ball games last night. Raceland must be a very good team, because I know that LCA has speed and talent.

What is amazing to me is that last nights game was the best in the area. Two top ranked 1A teams that played to their potential, down to the last drive and all anyone wants to discuss is one call. Yes, it is argumentative; yes, it could have went either way. When you have the talent on the field that LCA and Raceland have, how can this be the point of attention/topic? LCA had many other targets to go to at the end. It was a great game by both teams, period. The officials did not change the outcome, period. I don't think anyone arguing about last nights officiating are complaining about the no call in the endzone last week at LCA against Lloyd? That, probably did change the outcome of a game, remember.... 4 and goal from the five with 10 seconds?

Don't ruin a great game and diminish what happened out there for both teams! Both teams left it on the field.

I certainly remember EE bluto, tell him I said hello and thanks for the compliment. Your Eagles are not the only one that has to go out and take care of business each week. I know that we are not good enough to overlook anyone.

As for our concessions at Ram Stadium, I would have to agree. Besides, we may not be able to do a whole lot here but we can dang sure eat! :D

What a game Bluto. I hate to say it but I hope all the penalties LCA had in the last series were true infractions. I would hate for this game to end like this because of bad refs. 2 good teams going at each other should not be decided by the refs.

Yea... Just like the Lloyd vs. LCA game.

Your right, you can't imagine.:D

It truly was a great game to watch, two high powered offenses, two strong defences, LCA's defense stiffened quite a bit in the second half, a win on special teams, a great atmosphere, big crowd, the smell of hamburgers on the grill, and a Raceland victory.

Truly a great high school football game.

But, this one is over, time to focus on the next big game.

:thumb:Good luck to Paris this week, I know they are getting better each week.

The Raceland player held his foot for too long. It looked as if the LCA player was jerking his foot out of the Raceland players hands but after the foot was loose, it almost looked like there was a stomp to the Raceland players face mask.

To be truthful, I couldn't tell if it was intentional or not.It may have just been the natural motion of the players foot as he freed it from the Raceland players grasp. In the heat of the moment with very little time to react, I could see an official throwing the flag or not throwing it. It could have gone either way.

I don't have a dog in this fight by the way.

People seem to forget that officials can not judge intention.
