StraightShooter Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Sounds like a good game. Congrats to Boone. 5 of the 6 NKY 6A teams can win on a given night as they face each other.
Hamilton Joe Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Congrats to the Rebels. Any stats? How did Lokesak do tonight? Good receiver who needs to get the ball thrown his way more often.
sportsfan22 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Way too many missed opportunities for Conner! If they fix their Red Zone offense this team would be real good! Need to bounce back next week at Cambell Co. Go Cougars!
cats5262 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Was a great game, good effort by both teams!
connerkickerboy Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) This was a first class effort from both teams - sorry someone had to lose. Conner D needs to tighten up - Boone scored all four times they possessed the bal in the second half. Great coaching job with adjustments by Boone to start 3Q. Boone had the ball almost the entire 3Q on a long stready drive. Conner D gave up a lot of third downs and five plus yeards for first downs by the Rebels. Again, great job by both teams. Conner can come back and win the next 6A game at Campbell next week - they need to work hard and ice down the bruises they got today. Edited September 20, 2008 by Ram Rule 13
Boonecofan Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Very hard fought game! Congrats to the rebels, and good luck to the cougars in the coming up weeks. I am sold on Conner now they are a dang good football team.
Rebel91Dad Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Congrats to the Rebels. Any stats? How did Lokesak do tonight? Good receiver who needs to get the ball thrown his way more often. Lokesak had one touchdown reception for 50+ yards. He made a tremendous move after the catch to get in the endzone. Overall, he probably had but three catches, Boone controlled the second half with the ground game.
DRKARK Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 This sounds like it was one to watch. Good job BC.
mcpapa Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 How many rushing yards for Boone's RB (I can't spell his name)?
Rebel91Dad Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 How many rushing yards for Boone's RB (I can't spell his name)? His name is Charles Quainoo. Conner keyed on him in the first half and was very effective in shutting him down. Boone made some great adjustments in the second half with sweeps and misdirection plays. I haven't seen the official stats but I'd say that Quainoo was close to 200 yards.
cats5262 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 I believe 35 yards in the first half and 200 in the second, correct me if I am wrong.
VarsitySports55 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Quainoo is a legit running back. Conner did well shutting him down in the first half but in the second he looked like a whole new back. Very good player. The cougars fought hard but came up short. Boone is a very tough team. I hope to see this rematch in the playoffs. Good luck to both teams.
RebelFootball Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Charles is a heck of a back, give credit to the O-Line 932 yards in 4 games
jdg937 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Great game to watch. Conner has a good team. Boone can really run the ball and dominated the line of scrimmage in the second half. A couple of things I noticed: 1. The head coach from Conner did not shake hands with the coaches or players from Boone. The Boone coaches seemed to be making an effort and the Conner coach just tried to avoid them. Being a Conner fan this disappointed me. Kind of sad in my opinion after such a well played game. 2. I noticed the Conner coach said in the paper they "just ran out of time." Based on what I saw #44, #8, #7, #69, and #78 from Conner would not have wanted to or been able to play another quarter. Boone was going through them like crap through a goose in the second half. If they played much longer Quainoo would have broken a single game rushing record. He seemed to be getting stonger while the Cougars seemed to have lost their will to stop him. 3. Conner has made great improvements. This is about time since they are the largest school in northern Kentucky. Those of us in Hebron are glad we are getting better. Maybe next year we can beat Boone and make the series a rivalry again. Until then, despite what everyone says, the pigskin power of 6A resides in Florence.
