I don't think that his current head coach has a winning record without Brady if my info from ESPN this past week is accurate. Brady is not overrated. You don't accomplish what he has without being the real deal. And for the record, I have a fevered dislike for Belichek and the Patriots. But you cannot deny what Brady has accomplished. He should go down as one of the all time greats without a doubt.

Before Belichek had Brady running things, he was just an above average coach. In 2001 when the Patriots won the Super Bowl, guess who beat them the first week of the season when Bledsoe was still running the shoe. It was the Bengals. It wasn't until Bledsoe got hurt that year, and Brady took over that the Patriots started doing real good and eventually went on to win the super bowl.

Bill Belichick has three Lombardi trophies, but what will it say for the man if his team collapses without its star quarterback? Belichick’s record without Brady is so startlingly bad you have to read it twice: 42 wins, 58 losses. In his first year as the Pats coach, he inherited a .500 team from Pete Carroll and promptly went 5-11. He began his second season 0-2 before Mo Lewis removed Drew Bledsoe from the picture, and Brady stepped onto the scene. The Pats won 100 of their next 127, including playoffs. All he did was transform them into arguably the greatest team in NFL history.

Cassel is probably not going to lead this team to another 16-0 regular season, but as he takes over, he has certain advantages that a young Brady never enjoyed. He has three Pro Bowlers on the offensive line, the most talented wide receiver in the game and the easiest schedule in the NFL. Can Cassel win 10 games with this team? Well, if he can’t, Belichick will have only himself to blame. He had many chances to upgrade at the position and he stuck with Cassel. He is Belichick’s guy, and now more than ever, this is Belichick’s team.

No longer is the coach sharing the marquee with the quarterback. Coach McCain just lost his Palin. The edge is gone. The Pats are a wounded team, and here comes the rest of the NFL, moving in for the kill. Mangini and the Jets, Parcells and the Dolphins, Dungy, Polian, Tomlinson - you name it - they all want their pound of Patriot flesh. To them, the loss of Brady means one thing: payback time.

:thumb: Summed it up pretty well.

The Patriots play the NFL's easiest schedule. Posting 11 wins or so could be as much a product of that as anything else.

People may or may not try to make that argument, but anyone who has watched him play knows it wouldn't be true. Football is a team game...teams can sometimes win without their best players, no matter how good. Look at the Chargers last season...no LT, an injured Rivers and Gates and they almost went to the Super Bowl. I don't think anyone would call those guys overrated or think the Chargers are just as good without them.

Brady isn't overrated. Regardless of what happens this year he is what he is because he has led the Patriots to several Super Bowls and has had to do it with late game drives several times. That has cemented him as an elite QB.

I agree about the schedule. As bad as it is I would be surprised if they don't win at least 9 games. Brady is good and in no way overrated. Although he has been human the last couple years in the playoffs.

Brady is a winner and one of the best QB's, in recent memory. He manages the game well and can find the open receiver.

Not overrated, at all and probably needs to get more credit, than he does.

The one thing I will always remember about Brady more than anything else is the following. I voted no on underrated.

In his first Super Bowl against the Rams, he was having an awful, awful game. I believe he had only passed for around 70 or 80 yards. Rams had made their run in the 4th and tied the game. So all the momentum was with St. Louis and the Patriots get the ball with only a minute or so remaining at their own 20.

Brady leads them right down the field like it was no big deal, puts them in field goal range and the rest is history. His very first Super Bowl, big stage, etc, etc. When it came down to "money time" he made it happen.

We have seen all the stuff he has done since and even though that lost that Super Bowl to the Giants, he led them down the field to take the lead. Even though he had been getting beat around like a pinata. Say what you will about the "pretty boy" stuff off the field, but on the field he represents everything you want in a quarterback.

Tom Brady is in no way shape or form over-rated....

Exactly, he is considered a top 10 of all time.

Top 10, really? You are underrating him if you say he is top 10.

I believe he is better than that but no way you can not have him in the top 10 of all time.

I think he's saying that Brady should be top 5...:thumb:

I can't believe we're having this discussion. Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Sure, the NE system is designed to flatter the QB, but Brady's still the ice-cold assassin that executes it better than anyone. His late-game completions in the clutch are like daggers to the throat of opposing teams in the postseason.

He's the Mamba of the NFL.
