Cassell is in a no lose situation. He struggles, everyone will just say he was thrust into things and it will take him time to learn. If he wins, it's because it's the system and the Patriots have found another "diamond" in the rough.

 

I'm pulling for the kid, but if does well, I don't want to hear everyone calling Brady a product of the system because that is ridiculous.

Tom Brady is the Derek Jeter of the NFL. A solid player on good teams who gets a lot of recognition for various reasons; some on the field, some off the field.

I believe that the Patriots will be a much lesser team without Tom Brady running the show and I believe that anyone who thinks that Tom Brady is overrated is running out of the baseline.

Cassel hasn't started a game since 1999. That is unbelievable. There is ZERO chance that Cassel steals his job. Zero.

I was still a little disgruntled that my fantasy team lost Brady and will now rely on Philip Rivers and Chad Pennington :madman:

In his first year as the Pats coach, he inherited a .500 team from Pete Carroll and promptly went 5-11. He began his second season 0-2 before Mo Lewis removed Drew Bledsoe from the picture, and Brady stepped onto the scene. The Pats won 100 of their next 127, including playoffs. All he did was transform them into arguably the greatest team in NFL history.

Cassel is probably not going to lead this team to another 16-0 regular season, but as he takes over, he has certain advantages that a young Brady never enjoyed. He has three Pro Bowlers on the offensive line, the most talented wide receiver in the game and the easiest schedule in the NFL. Can Cassel win 10 games with this team? Well, if he can’t, Belichick will have only himself to blame. He had many chances to upgrade at the position and he stuck with Cassel. He is Belichick’s guy, and now more than ever, this is Belichick’s team.

No longer is the coach sharing the marquee with the quarterback. Coach McCain just lost his Palin. The edge is gone. The Pats are a wounded team, and here comes the rest of the NFL, moving in for the kill. Mangini and the Jets, Parcells and the Dolphins, Dungy, Polian, Tomlinson - you name it - they all want their pound of Patriot flesh. To them, the loss of Brady means one thing: payback time.

I agree 100%:thumb:. If Cassell wins 14+ games like the Patriots would/should if Tom Brady was there and then competes for a Superbowl like they would if Tom was there then the system is that good or is it the Cassell is that good??. But what if the system is that good and Brady is/was the perfect fit and style for the system.

Take Micheal Jordan for instance and the triangle offense. The system is a proven winner and at the time Micheal Jordan was a good basketball player. Take Jordan and put him in the system and he becomes the Greatest. So without the system Jordan is still going to be a good player but sometimes imo "it just fits".

I had to put this in another post to make a statement,

 

Brady is in no way overrated. He is that good when given the opportunity.
