After all of these months I can't believe that there is anyone that doesn't know this, but Barak Obama is a Christian and he has NEVER been a Muslim. End of story, no qualifiers, no explanations, no buts, nothing Nada, period.

I'll stand by my assessment of his comment ... you are entitled to do the same.

To be specific, I said, “ I don’t know if Obama is Muslim or not, but I don’t think he is Christian either.” If his religion is not relevant, then why is he running away from his past and saying he is Christian?

Obama understands it is relevant to the individual voter. A Muslim is not electable in America in 2008.

If he is muslim, where does he do his five prayers daily while serving in the senate or on the campaign trail?

If he is not a Christian, why does he attend a Christian church?

You know, though, that while many might not be saying it specifically, most in the anti-Obama crowd are more than happy to let this stuff keep floating around, just to satisfy that enough people will believe it.

The fact is, we are not electing the Pope of America, we are electing a President, not a religious leader.

 

And different Christians believe different things - that's why there are so many different denominations. It all comes down to believing that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior. As a Baptist I can say that I don't agree with everything thing the Catholic Church teaches, but I'm not going to sit here and claim that they aren't Christians.

The totally baseless smears that I see posted here are not directed against Barack Obama. In the few cases where some bogus internet smear against Obama (emails mostly) has been posted here, they have quickly been shot down with a link to a stie like snopes.com and the threads died quick deaths.

 

I rarely post in forums other than BGP and I feel no obligation to surf the internet to correct the record everywhere I see Obama unfairly attacked. I only browse the most popular conservative web sites and I also periodically browse popular liberal web sites such as the Daily Kos, the Democratic Underground, and Huffington Post. I find far more unfounded rumors originating on those three popular websites than on the conservatives web sites that I frequent.

 

It is hard for me to understand why anybody needs to believe Obama is a Muslim to oppose him. I accept the fact that he is a follower of the Black Liberation Theology and include his voluntary 20 year indoctrination at the hands of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr., as a compelling reason for opposing his candidacy. If Obama's religion is something other than what he claims it is, then it really does not matter to me.
