In my 4 years of high school, We were 0-4 against Danville. 84, 85, 86, 87. That is why I like it so much when we beat them now. :thumb:

You do know that Larry French has been a head coach since at least 1979? I remember Sam at Anderson County in '87 but I don't think Sam's been at the head of the helm as long as Larry.

 

No one has greater respect for Sam Harp than I. I feel he took the great work that Duffy did in building Danville into a state contender and turned it into a dynasty.

 

That said, French has been successful everywhere he went (alebit there are no state titles on the resume), and he has had to build programs from practically the bottom up everywhere he went. (Mercer, Meade, Lincoln)

 

Meade County had a very good program before Larry got there.They had 2running backs back in the mid 80's named Elliot Ditto and a Valentine kid who could play anywhere.Ditto was as good as there has been in this state but no grades to play.Wilson Sears and Devries were excellent high school coaches who won big time at Meade County.

When I was a Freshman we did not dress for the Varsity game with Danville. The Freshman team beat Danville on their practice field (I want to say 6-0) with it being under water. The Ads had the ball right at the goaline and Mark Wilson took the Danville handoff 90+ yards for the only TD. So that makes me 2-2 against Danville.

When I was a Freshman we did not dress for the Varsity game with Danville. The Freshman team beat Danville on their practice field (I want to say 6-0) with it being under water. The Ads had the ball right at the goaline and Mark Wilson took the Danville handoff 90+ yards for the only TD. So that makes me 2-2 against Danville.

I debated whether to count freshmen Rebel but I was fortunate that our Freshmen team beat the Ads 18-16 and a week later the Varsity beat Chris Jones and the Ads 14-7. So I figured I could count it either way. :thumb:

I heard Mary Jo Perino, from lex18 sports say yesterday that some sports company had the Danville/Boyle Co. match up rated as one of the top 20 rivalry games in the NATION this week. Yes I said Nation. What a great thing for both of these programs.:dancingpa

We beat the Ads Freshman when I played as a 8th grader. However their freshman team was missing their freshman QB and RB(Morgan and Baughman), because they started Varsity. I don't count that.

Those were indeed two key pieces missing.

 

Our freshman year everyone played because none of us contributed to the varsity effort.

 

It's unbelievable how fast Morgan and Baughman matured that freshman year and to think the next year they jelled with the upperclassmen to make that special undefeated team in '84.

Boyle will be the champs in title town this year!
