Prayers go out for the people of New Orleans and that entire coastal area from Mississippi to Texas as this hurricane appears to be ready to slam the region once again.

Mandatory evacuations are in place now for some areas and I believe a New Orleans evacuation is expected Sunday evening. Hurricane Gustav is now entering the Gulf once again and expected to gain more strength and make landfall sometime on Monday. The exact location of landfall of course it not know at this time but it could be a cat5 by the time it hits the U.S. coast.

I'm with you, OR. Here's hoping that things aren't nearly as bad as predicted.

I just hope the government is better prepared to deal with the situation this time. Seeing those people in NO suffering and begging for help during Katrina broke my heart and the federal response to these people's situation was deplorable. In times of war or natural disaster, all partisan politics go out the window. I was truly ashamed at the way the Katrina disaster was handled!! Thoughts and prayers be with our southern brothers!

I don't want to and will not get into this kind of debate or discussion on a prayer thread other than to say I agree. I do however think that a lot of the blame on that should have fallen on the mayor of N.O. and the LA. govenor. Both imo initially "dropped the ball", if I remember correctly the N.O. mayor said that he didn't need all that much assistance. Then things got really bad and that imo is what delayed a lot of it. I may be wrong though.

Anyway, I do agree that it is no time for partisan politics. I had a family member in the National Guard who was deployed to that area and he said it was heart breaking.

The really bad thing ws that they always had to be on the watch for the armed "thugs" that were going around looting and causing even more trouble.

 

Back to the thread topic, my prayers go out for all of the people of that area.

I 100% agree on everything that you said 98 but like I said, I started this as a prayer thread so I won't post anymore on that part of it. :thumb:

My answer: other places did not have the problem with the levees that NO did.

My prayers are with them as well. I'm sure that they are better prepared this time around but still it is a heavy burden to keep going through this.

I hope everyone will remember to say a little prayer for our old friend "Chaplain" who, I believe, is still living down in the New Oreleans area.
