September 1, 200818 yr Prayers sent daily. We've also started a supply drive at work. If this makes landfall west of New Orleans, the storm surge will be much worse than Katina in 2005, which came on shore just east of NO, even if it is a lesser hurricane. The east side pulls water away. The west pushes it on shore.
September 1, 200818 yr We're prepared to accommodate 3000-4200 evacuees. About 350 arrived last night.I heard today that they are up to 800 at (I think) the Louisville Convention Center.

September 1, 200818 yr It's being reported on The Weather Channel that 95% of the population in New Orleans has evacuated...That is awesome news, IMO.
September 1, 200818 yr My niece and her husband arrived safely last night after leaving New Orleans at 8am yesterday morning. They packed both cars full, but still left a ton of stuff behind in their apartment. My niece went through Katrina as a college student there and lost everything but one suitcase full of clothes. Her husband is staring at CNN with a glazed over look on his face waiting to see what will happen next. My prayers go to everyone involved, but when it's family - it's much more personal.
