I'll refer my kid to be a kid at 18 and 21 and I wouldn't want him doing this, I cannot believe others would be ok with it either if it was legal or not, it makes you hallucinate. How can you say you would be alright with watching your 18 year old son having hallucinations? This is just mindblowing to me.

My point is that, how can you do it but not expect your son/daughter to do it. If it is alright for you to do it then I would assume you would'nt be hypocritical in allowing your son/daughter to do it.

 

You've taken this topic on a tangent. My intent was that its just me getting high. No kids around. No dogs. No cats. Just me and my boys.

It is illegal, but not punishable.....so, basically, it's legal.

Here's the point.

 

All of the issues you raise regarding weed can be applied to alcohol. Heck, some of you will let me drink to excess and possibly die on my couch on Saturday night but you won't let me smoke weed which I cannot OD on.

 

Other than those who frown upon alcohol due to religious reasons, the rest of you in my mind are not thinking rationally.

 

You say I can damage myself. Same with alcohol.

You say it can lead to addition and homelessness. Same with alcohol.

 

What can result from getting high than can't result from getting drunk (other than being arrested)?

 

For the record, I'm in the minority as being one that has never once touched any drug besides alcohol. I was listening to my Kid Rock CD and he has a line about people judging him because he "gets high." It got me to thinking that if I get drunk and he gets high, we're the same.

You keeps saying don't fall back on it's illegal, but you fall back on comparing it to alcohol. There is realy no connection between the two, otherwise you need to compare it to all other drugs. What about prostituion, should we make it legal? I know who here thinks we should. We could use the tax revenue to help fund schools, like our gambling money! :thumb:

 

Here's who it hurts. Most drugs can ultimately be traced back to some bad people, like mexican drug cartels and Al Qaeda for example. Yes, good old american drug users help fund terrorism. Afghanistan's terrorist are funding their war on the drugs they sell. Look at all the murders in mexico over drugs, where entire families are wiped out. Pablo Escobar bomber a Avianca commercial airliner, killing 110 innocents, just to get the guy who was trying to stop his drug trade. He wasn't even on the plane.

 

Then there are thousands of american cars stolen every year and taken accross the border to use for drug running and gangs. Gangs which exist because of drugs. These gangs like to kill our border agents and drug spies too.

 

So I think it does hurt when americans sit on their couch smoking weed. Sorry to be a "Debby Downer", but...

I've read your posts on here for a while. I know you're a smart guy. I know you realize that my point deals with "why one (alcohol) but not the other(weed)?"

But it concerns to that, the plant was put here for a reason. You tell me another plant that has 1000+ uses such as the Cannabis plant?

Everything from building materials to bonding material, to rope, and everything in between can be made out of it and very cost efficient. So there has to be a purpose the plant is here. Also tell the chemo patients that are prescribed it to not smoke it and see what they say, point is the plant has more uses than any other plant on this planet, so its obvious why many regard it as a sacred plant, and why many religions feel it is Gods plant.
