I see nothing wrong at all, with this scenario. With that said, Teacher/Coach loyalty, is between the school and the parent. Perhaps this Teacher/Coach, gives all he can to the students and athletes, he is involved with on a daily basis.

 

 

 

Absolutely agree. Maybe this PARENT has a problem with the idea of coaching his own son. Maybe he sees that as a conflict of interest. And, last I heard, sports isn't the ONLY reason a parent and/or student chooses a particular school. The whole basis for this alleged "disloyalty" is a clear and absolute violation of the spirit of the rules set forth by the KHSAA that everyone wants to bash the privates about! I know several coaches whose children attend different schools and they don't seem to "not care about" the players they coach. Actually it's quite the opposite.

Would it be fair to say, it was presumptive that the Teacher/Coach, would enroll his son in the school.

 

I think sometimes we forget, that friendships formed early on, are very strong and often beneficial. Perhaps this young man, wanted to continue on with those he has went to school with.

It's really hard to plea my case without giving up the two schools involved. The student athlete plays on a travel team (baseball) in the county that he lives so he has alot of friends there as well. I don't know who's decision it was but a lot of people close to the situation thought he was going to stay home and go to school.

I'm aware of an administrator who sent their kids to the elementary school in the district whereby said administrator was employed, but when HS came around, the transfer happened. I just think if you are an administrator, you should be confident and willing to send your child to the school you are willing to have support you.....JMO

I don't understand some of the scenarios listed, because I am under the presumption that if if you live in a district and are employed there, how can you send your child to a different school? Do they have open enrollment or do they pay tuition?

Happens in Greenup all the time. Drives me crazy, But happens all the time.

These days, anything goes.

I know of several kids who go to Corbin Independent and their parents teach in other area systems.

That says A LOT to me. People thought the kid would attend/play for the same school his dad was a coach at, feelings are hurt.

 

IMO, again, just because a person is on the payroll of any school, it doesn't give the "rights" to that school on the employees kids/athetes.

I'm simply saying if the school is good enough for mom/dad to work at, then mom/dad should feel confident enough in that system and what they are doing at that system to want that system to educate their children. If mom/dad thinks the system is subpar, why are they teaching there (and because it's a job don't work for me, because there are teachers/administrators needed all around this state)

If the school is good enough for the Parent to draw a check then it should be good enough for the student to go to school. What happens a lot of times is that because they don't have a vested interest in the school( kids going sewhere) they simply do just draw a check instead of making the school the best that it can be. I think the system needs to find another coach if this is the case. How can he/she have the best interest of the students at heart, when he will be thinking and working around his son's schedule of not only ball but academics also. I just think it puts your own kids at a disadvantage!
