7th grade or 8th?

Is Corbin one of the final 4 teams? Who are the other possibilities? I know the Jumpers/Southern winner & the Franklin-Simpson/Bowling Green winner, but who is in the other leg of the bracket?

Corbin plays the winner of Ashland vs Lex cath.which is played Monday 27th. Corbin is one of final four.

I still haven't found anything out on Bowling Green/Franklin-Simpson but we still may very well see round 3 of Meece and Corbin. However this plays out the future of Somerset and Corbin is definately looking bright.

How is Lex. Cath able to play in this state tournament? They dont have a middle school, is this like an AAU football team from Lexington? Who checks their grades? Who checks their ages?

Not certain but I think that Lex. Catholic won and will play Corbin in the 1st game saturday at 9:30 a.m.

I would second this. I have tried this before and have been unsuccessful, but I challenge someone to drive around Lexington and find "Lexington Catholic Middle School." It does not exist. The KBA has not allowed Lexington Catholic to play in their middle school basketball state tournament for that reason. It's middle school playoffs. Hence the name "school."

Perhaps they are a consolidated team of the middle school's in the area like Bell County is. It's not uncommon to have more than one middle school make up a team that feeds their high school team.

From my understanding they pull from all catholic schools in the area and will also let any one who attends Christ the King that goes to public school to play with them as well. IMHO they are an all star team. Can anyone confirm this?

Newport Catholic's Middle school team does the same thing. They get kids from all of the feeder schools in the NKY area so I really dont see what the big deal is. Yes it is an All Star caliber team but Im sure it is just a bunch of kids who are planning on going to LexCath anyway. Its one thing if some of those kids end up going to another Catholic school.

It happens at all levels. There is no sense in trying to fight it. Let them think that they are king of the world. This issue cannot get resolved with a regulatory body like the KHSAA, how does anything get fixed at the middle school level, when there is no governing body?

 

I got on here to see if I could learn about any Middle School associations that could or might lead to a State champion. Here in Oldham County our teams, (Schools), play in the Mid Bluegrass Conference, but that is as far as it goes. What else is available?

Get over it. There private they pay and they can get who they want and also they are not world beaters.

7th grade Meece Middle (Somerset) beat Southern (Southwestern) 38-8 to advance to the final four in Lexington on Saturday. They will face Bowling Green Middle who was ahead of Franklin Simpson 40-0 at halftime. It sounds like this could be a very interesting game to see who gets in the finals. The winner of this game will play the winner of Lexington Catholic and Corbin. Go Jumpers!!!

Has anyone heard any 8th grade info? Bell Co. vs Wayne Co....etc?
