As long as Adam Dunn is the focal point of your team, you will never win. If that's what makes Reds fans happy then so be it.

Exactly project his July numbers out for a 6 month season and it's unheard of numbers. He'll probably be the player of the month in the NL for July.

 

I agree with that. He should be player of the month for July. Like I said when he's hot he's awesome.

The focal point, has been less than MLB quality pitching and has hurt the Reds, for the last several seasons.

 

Combine that with the lack of leadoff man, catcher who can't hit, lack of team speed, SS inconsistency, middle relief woes and closer problems the last few years, Dunn has "done" his job.

He's paid to hit home runs and drive in runs. 4 and 10 in 26 games hurts this team. Him walking to 1st base does not help THIS team.

 

Where was he batting in April, and who was batting in front of him? Were they getting on base? RBI's are pretty lineup dependent. Here are the baserunners on stats for Dunn for the season from baseballreference.com/

Seems like he his way better than avg. with RBI's (over 50% better) than the avg. MLB player with 418 PA's and has had 17 fewer runners on base over that time than the avg. MLB player. Now that is getting it DUNN.

Always been a Dunn Fan. I'd say pay the man and sign him for four years.

That is the key, regarding Dunn. Not that they don't like the consistency, of 40/100 and that is defense, is less than stellar but can the Reds organization afford to keep him.

 

From a business aspect, this will be the point of discussion.

Hey if theycan keep him a put a good team around him, then I'm cool with it. I just can't see them doing it. Maybe Walt's the guy for the job.

I like Dunn, my main problem is the same one I had with Griffey. He needs to lose 20 to 25 pounds and get his body in the shape it can be(naturally, of course) from a strengh and conditioning perspective. This would have to help his quickness on defense and probably help the hitting some. I don't get these star athletes who don't appear to try to maximize their potential. This is where leadership comes into play.

With Junior moved I think you sign him for 3-4 years at 12 or so million per. I think it should be pretty clear to his agent that he's not going to break the bank on the open market, and staying here at a slightly reduced rate would be in his best interest...
