Most are searching for that 5-tool player, who can produce high numbers, with a low cost to the franchise.

Dunn falls into a category, of many who hit for power and production, but don't have solid OBP% and don't help you win, with their gloves.

You meant AVG, right???

Are you saying the GMs of MLB clubs have the wrong perception of Dunn?

For the most part, yes...

Yes, thanks....:thumb:

How do they keep their jobs if they can't evaluate talent and worth? Seems funny that en masse they have come to the same conclusion if it is false.

I think they have simply come to the same conclusion the Reds have. He's a valuable guy at 10-12 million, but he's not a guy you give up two or three "plus" prospects to rent for two months. He's also not a guy you give 15-20 million and expect him to anchor your team...

I'll agree. We can all want Dunn to be a .300 hitter but he's not that type of MLB player.

His value, is HR's and RBI's.

Very well put. I still won't like him here though. You know that:thumb:

While I agree to an extent I disagree too. He is what he is a high OBP guy who doesn't knock in enough runs when they're on 2nd or 3rd. I like him and hope he stays at a reasonable price, but he needs to make more contact w/ guys on base. That's his biggest problem.

Couldnd't have said it better.

What's a .300 hitter?

IF you add "runs" then I agree.

Phillips, some day.

Phillips career .265 in over 2000 ABs. Some day, but not today.

Phillips is a consistent .280 hitter, for the Reds.

Dunn, is not that type of player but can drive in Phillips, when he is on.

Where was he batting in April, and who was batting in front of him? Were they getting on base? RBI's are pretty lineup dependent. Here are the baserunners on stats for Dunn for the season from baseballreference.com/

Adam Dunn -- PA: 418 RBI: 72 Actual Runners on Base: 245 (107-86-52),

ML Avg. Player with PA: 418 RBI: 47 Avg. Runners on Base: 262 (129-87-45)

Seems like he his way better than avg. with RBI's (over 50% better) than the avg. MLB player with 418 PA's and has had 17 fewer runners on base over that time than the avg. MLB player. Now that is getting it DUNN.

Great stas he drives in a better % of Runners in scoring position than Hamilton only reason he has more RBI's is that he has had way way more chances.

Dunn is, what he is. Hits HR's and generates RBI's. He's not going to hit for average, or have a high OBP but he will be consistent, in his production.

Keep him, as I'll take 40/100 every year, like 98 said.

And it looks like he's well on his way with those numbers once again this season. And by the way, I like as a Red.:D
