I really wish people would get over the whole BA obsession.

His OBP was higher in April than it is in July.

He's paid to hit home runs and drive in runs. 4 and 10 in 26 games hurts this team. Him walking to 1st base does not help THIS team.

Considering he's batting .243 this year, not an awful month. Players have months like that all the time. June...thats a different story.

At least you see June for what it is.:thumb:

If he's paid to hit home runs and drive in runs, they why do you have such a problem with him. Numbers don't lie. 40 HR and 100 RBI the past 4 season is hitting home runs and driving in runs if you ask me. Apparently that's what he's paid to do :sssh:

And you'd rather him fly out? He's not paid to hit home runs, he's paid to help the ballclub. In anyway possible. If he's gettin on base at .400 clip and scoring 110 runs, he's DEFINITELY helping this team.

Fly out. Yeah if some one is on 2nd or 3rd with less than 2 outs. Its called a sac fly.

Helping them do what?? So you would be ok with him hitting 4 HRS and 10 RBIs every month fot the whole season if his OBP was close to .400? You' be willing to spend up to 20% of your payroll on that?

While I agree to an extent I disagree too. He is what he is a high OBP guy who doesn't knock in enough runs when they're on 2nd or 3rd. I like him and hope he stays at a reasonable price, but he needs to make more contact w/ guys on base. That's his biggest problem. I'm still waiting for the people that want him gone to explain how to replace his numbers though.

Well since the season is only 6 months long. That would mean 24 HR's and 60 RBI, Heck No.

He, EVERY SINGLE YEAR, puts up 40, 100, 100 and 100. That's HR, RBI, Runs, and Walks. And an OBP of .385, minimum.

Would I give 20% of the payroll for that, my question is why in the heck would you not?

He doesn't do that every month, nor does he have months like he had in July every month. As a Reds supporter I'd be willing to pay him $15M next year for 40/100/100.

malachi, you're using fuzzy math and you know it.

Dunn is, what he is. Hits HR's and generates RBI's. He's not going to hit for average, or have a high OBP but he will be consistent, in his production.

Keep him, as I'll take 40/100 every year, like 98 said.

Exactly project his July numbers out for a 6 month season and it's unheard of numbers. He'll probably be the player of the month in the NL for July.

He will win you more games with his offense than he will cost you with his defense. Keep him!!!!!!!
