I have it marked and highlighted (State Tourney Draw) on my calendar for Friday January 30th, 2009. The draw is always the Friday of the quarterfinals of the All A Tourney in Richmond and is broadcast live by WKYT 27 at Noon or 12:30PM. With a perfect draw you could have four of these five teams in the SF of the state (Elliott County, GRC, Holmes, Scott County, and the winner of the 7th region Manual, J-Town, Male, or Eastern). Hazard and Shelby Valley will also be a hard out for these teams.

 

Thanks Lion Mania, I too always like to mark this date on my calander, as I have been going to the state tourney for over 40 years. The Lions should have little trouble advancing out of the 16th and to the State Tourney. Some of the others you mentioned will have a more challenging time of advancing.

Warren Central will probably be a top 10 team this year.

Where have I been? I did not realize that Scott County, Holmes, etc. had already won their regions for the 2008/09 season.:eek:

I agree, nothing is assumed. Look at last year, Holmes lost to NewCath who wasnt anythins special. All it takes is one bad game, an injury, or players that are eneligble due to whatever reason. Holmes has a very solid team, but look at when they had Jefferson, Rice and those guys. It seemed every week there was a player out due to some reason. Im not saying Holmes is like that this year because they have shown lots of discipline, but its not out of the roam of possiblty. Yes i agree that holmes and scott county are probably the 2 teams i would predict in the finals, but nothing can be assumed this early.

They will be tough.....IMO last year means nothing.......the AAU competetion they have been playing is definately several levels above high school ball.....they are competeting very well this summer against the AAU competetion.

 

All of the Holmes players for the most part also play on the same AAU team.

If Euton, Jackson, Flannery, and anyone else that wants to transfer to Scott County are eligible, then I don't think anyone can touch this all star team. They are the same as a prep school now. Let them play with the catholic schools in a separate division.

Considering Elliott scared the soup out of the champs at Rupp this March, and they were only juniors, I'd have to wholeheartedly agree.

 

And we want our soup back !:laugh:

Oh they will be... gonna be a fun team to watch.

Elliott will gain some experience by playing in the Beach Ball Classic. That will help them a lot! A couple of really strong teams in this.

I agree with Scott Co. is #1, but I dont think Cov Holmes is in the same class or even ranked #2. They lost alot of players and thier best in Henderson. I know they have alot of young tall talented players and will be good but I would think 2010 is where they would seperate themselves from the other good teams. And what about PG?
