So your saying transfers should not be allowed to participate in sports?

Most would take it as, if you can pick and choose where you want to go to high school and play sports then this makes it no different than going to a parochial school where there are little or no restictions on eligibility. Therefore, skewing the balance. I would think most public school supporters would agree that parochial schools have an advantage athletically (in all sports). With Scott County consistently receiving "impact" players on a regular basis only puts a larger target of scrutiny on their backs.

Warren Central will probably be a top 10 team this year.

 

I don't know if they are Top 10, but after disappearing last year (with a really young team), I think Riley will have them back in Rupp again. I hear they have alot of young talent and two of the best sophomores in the state in Fant and Shanklin. In fact, not seeing Warren Central in Rupp last year almost felt like something was missing. Not only have they been to Rupp but seems like they were always contending on Saturday. With the right draw they would be my darkhorse to be playing again on Saturday this coming March if I had to pick one team as a darkhorse.

When March roles around anything can happen no matter who you start or who comes of the bench. So I wouldn't be suprised if they did get beat, both teams well have a bright red target on their chest and maybe get to much glory considering that we still have a season to be played which means there will be injuries and suspensions for every team to count into factor. For Scott County how about Just getting out of the region Lexington Catholic, Bryan station, Dunbar, Henry Clay are all capable of beating Scott County so lets hold the horses on being challenged that answers for itself. As for Holmes proably won't be challenged but anything can happen but odds are they'll be at Rupp come March.

IMO Elliott needs to develop more of an inside presence to contend with Scott, GRC, Holmes and others. That 4 out 1 in offense works great when you're hitting threes, but not if you're cold. Rose Hill proved that in the All A. I really think Clark County will be awfully tough come tournament time and will be battle tested coming out of the 10th with Mason and Montgomery. But hey it's wide open this year.

I agree with Scott Co. is #1, but I dont think Cov Holmes is in the same class or even ranked #2. They lost alot of players and thier best in Henderson. I know they have alot of young tall talented players and will be good but I would think 2010 is where they would seperate themselves from the other good teams. And what about PG?

 

Holmes is definetly in the same class with SC as are a few other teams such as GRC, J'town, and Manual.

 

Holmes lost 7 seniors from last year's team, but of those 7 seniors, only Henderson and Avery were major contributors. Clark was a nice body down low, but Pittman started over him in the state championship for a reason.

 

I think a lot of people will be surprised when they see the the emergence of 6'3 G Dom Johnson. He has waited in the shadows behind Austin Hill and Henderson but it will finally be his time to shine. He has been playing 4 years of varsity for a reason. The kid is a player which is why he will be starting over newcomer Brandon Housley, who is also another HUGE addition to this year's team.

 

Holmes, as I said in another thread, is in the process of reloading rather than rebuilding.

 

In the senior class, 6'1 PG Jamel Riley will run the show this year and in a lot of people's eyes is a better shooter and much smarter with the ball than Avery was. Anyone who saw Riley at the UK Elite camp came away impressed.

 

They also return IMO 3 of the top 10-15 juniors in the state in the Johnson Brothers and Pittman.

 

In the sophomore class they have probably one of the top 2-3 players in nky for his class in 6'6 G Kevon Arnold who saw varsity action last year as a freshman before hurting his ankle and being put in a boot. He played up (17u as a 15 yr old) over the summer and still averaged double figures.

I agree. Having to beat two of the top 3 teams in the state in one week will be a tall order.

 

The Holmes/SC game is on a Sunday so it will probably be televised but I'm not sure if it will be something that the Lex. area would be carrying as well.
