You can place Manual, North Hardin, and J'town all at the #1 spot too.

 

Manual was without Tony Kimbro Jr all summer due to a wrist injury, but Manual still looked strong. And yes, he will be back and there won't be a better tandem in the state than Jacob Jenkins and Kimbro. Manual may end up playing the state's toughest schedule to boot.

 

Then there is North Hardin with Greg Johnson and Larod King another top tandem with a loaded lineup. Greg Johnson returns after sitting out a full season.

 

J'town won the 7th region last season and returns everyone but Gagel and adds Cosby. They defeated Scott County over the summer too.

 

These teams won't get much hoopla on BGP since there's only a few members from the 5th and 7th regions that post here, but they do pose a legit threat for the state title this year.

 

Jefferson County started school this week. Does anyone know if Tony Kimbro attended Manual on the first day? He was rumored to be going to a prep school the last I heard, which was at the end of last school year. He would for sure help make Manual a power this year.

I am really happy that Mr. Housely has been ruled eligible. Really, I don’t think any kid should suffer because some adults can’t play by the rules.

 

I don’t know his full story or reason for moving, but if I'm not mistaken, he began his H.S. career at Holy Cross, then transferred to Cov. Cath following his freshman year, and is now at Holmes with a chance to help them earn a Regional Title.

I'm confident the sequence was Holy Cross, Newport Catholic then Holmes.

 

There are still three schools involved in his varsity career. Again, I have no problem with a kid being eligible. I just don't understand how some kids seem to move at will and retain eligibility, while some move with valid motives and are ineligible.

I like Hazard in the mix. This could be a year for the small school to surprise everyone with Hazard and Elliott Co. both fielding solid teams.

This should be a good game.

GRC plays Scott Co on Dec 18th at Scott Co. Should give us some insight on how well Seniors Robert Hatton and Ryan Williams and the loaded Sophomore class of Zollo, Stenzel, Rogers, Pervis and Daniels will fair this year.

It cannot be overstated how good North Hardin will be this year. They have great personnel and one of the best coaching staffs in the business. North Hardin is a contender this season.

Just looking at the thread title I believe the 2 teams will play each other I thought I seen on another thread. That will be a big game!

I also believe the 7th region is going to be as strong as its been in a really long time. Louisville Eastern will have a very good team as well in that region. I believe they have 5 really good teams.

Anyone know much about Ballard this year?? I know they return some good players, but for the first time in a long time, there wasn't much info about how they did this summer and stuff. The 7th is a BEAST!!!!!:fight:

Ask again about mid Feb. We should know the tourney draw and also how other teams are playing. Alot can happen between now and then.

 

As of now they would be my top two picks.I also would throw in Elliott Co as a strong contender.

 

I have it marked and highlighted (State Tourney Draw) on my calendar for Friday January 30th, 2009. The draw is always the Friday of the quarterfinals of the All A Tourney in Richmond and is broadcast live by WKYT 27 at Noon or 12:30PM. With a perfect draw you could have four of these five teams in the SF of the state (Elliott County, GRC, Holmes, Scott County, and the winner of the 7th region Manual, J-Town, Male, or Eastern). Hazard and Shelby Valley will also be a hard out for these teams.
