If you can't love the one you want, love the one your with.

Be slow to speak and quick to listen.

Even if the redlight turns green for you, look both ways twice before you proceed.

Don't hate anyone, they are loved by somebody.

Call your Mom....Everyday. I wish I could call mine.

I got a little misty-eyed reading these, but especially the bolded.

A few of mine:

* As a general rule, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

* Open doors for everyone & you can never say thank-you enough.

* Laugh a lot. Then laugh some more.

* For some reason, I pick on people that I like. I'm looking at you, Clizzy.

* I don't always succeed at this one, but do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Rules from my father that I have long lived by:

1) Always stand when shaking someone's hand.

2) When shaking someone's hand, too firm is WAY better than the opposite, so don't be delicate about it.

3) Take off your dumb headphones.

4) You're never as smart as you think you are.

There are three rules that I live by: Never get less than twelve hours sleep, ever play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city, and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I always stand when I shake someone's hand...and I look them in the eye as I do it.

Edit: took me a minute to remember that was from Teen Wolf.

I was at a restaurant around town last week. Had to wait like a lot of others so we all had that buzzer so they could alert us. While going to my table I see a person I know through our kids but not someone I've had a lot of conversations with. More of "hey how's it going" type of acquaintance.

He, too, was waiting so he had that square buzzer in his right hand. Picture him palming it if you will. I stick my hand out while I'm saying "hey how's it going." Instead of him transferring the buzzer to his left hand so he could shake he sticks out the right hand (with the buzzer still in it) and extends HIS PINKIE to me. I shook his darn pinkie.

Strangest handshake ever.

I refuse to trust anyone that sticks out their pinkie for a handshake.

Hopefully he was holding a beer in his left hand!

Yeah...that's pretty dag-gone weird.

Never leave food on my plate.

Nothing is impossible.
