Israeli newspaper publishes Obama's private prayer

Featured Replies

JERUSALEM - An Israeli newspaper's decision to publish a handwritten prayer left by Barack Obama in the cracks of Jerusalem's Western Wall drew criticism Friday as an invasion of his privacy and his relationship with God.

In the note, placed at Judaism's holiest site Thursday, Obama asks God to guide him and guard his family.

"Lord — Protect my family and me. Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will," reads the note published in Maariv.

Maariv ran a photograph of the note on its front page Friday. It said the note was removed from the wall by a Jewish seminary student immediately after Obama left.

They should really be ashamed.

I think he means both the newspaper and the kid who took it. I am not an Obama fan but neither do I think that anyone has the right to do something this horrible.:irked:

Oh, I agree. Bad on the kid and the newspaper.

They should really be ashamed.

^If you mean the newspaper that exposed it, I agree.

The newspaper, while not responsable for taking the prayer, should have notified Obama they had it and of their intentions to print it. I personally don't have a problem with them printing it. Prayer is a personal thing before you and God, but anytime you put something in writing, you know there is a possibility it could become public. Especially someone in the public eye like Obama is now. This prayer being made public is no different than me being asked to pray at church tommorrow. The content of this prayer even puts him in a better light in some eyes. Asking to take care of his family, forgive him of sins, give him wisdom, and help him fulfill God's will are things we all should pray for.

If anyone truly thinks that Obama's camp did this, then I have only one word - ridiculous.
