If they didn't feel he was a Christian - then see one simple prayer - and all of a sudden they believe that he is? Come on...those that believe that he is secretly Muslim certainly aren't open minded enough to believe that the prayer is genuine.

July 29, 200818 yr That this happened is a real head-shaking shame. Not only was Obama's privacy invaded, but it soils the integrity of the entire tradition. That someone would think so little of that traditon to try and "scoop" is sad. Very sad. I'm not surprised the newspaper ran it. There's not much integrity in media these days, is there? Only the most cynical and jaded would jump directly to the conclusion that Obama's camp set it up. Only the most naive would believe it could never happen. In the middle are the people who are aghast at what happened, and look beyond the fact that it's Obama, and see that apparently nothing is sacred in this modern world. Personally, I think it's a shameful attempt by a guy trying to make some money, and maybe a name for himself. The newspaper shouldn't have run it.
July 29, 200818 yr Which Americans? Those that assume he isn't Christian? Those who may have been turned away a little by the Reverend Wright stuff would be more likely to take a closer look at him again when seeing the kind of humble and pious prayers that a man with such power would place inside the wall. Doesn't change a thing for me because his faith was never an issue for me.

A Ma'ariv spokesman is quoted in the Jerusalem Post that the release of the note was pre-approved by the Obama campaign.
