July 27, 200818 yr Oh please...Obama could singlehandedly chase down a guy that mugs an old lady and some of you all would play it up as a political statement, while if McCain did so, herald it as being the action of a true American. If you can't ever see beyond the political hype, then it's useless "discussing" with you. I defy you to find even one statement of mine that would indicate I am a McCain supporter. I am going to vote for him because I WILL UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES vote for Obama ans I always vote but that should in no way shape or for be construed as the same kind of blind unwavering support that many give the Messiah.
July 27, 200818 yr There seems to be a logical disconnect between your criticism of Fox News in one thread and your defense of the biased mainstream media behaving as Obama cheerleaders in this one. Is heavy media bias a problem only when the bias is on the right? In the other thread, I only pointed out that everyone knew that Fox and the White house were doing this all along. I have no problem with it, if Fox wants to be the propaganda channel of this age, then fine by me. I do have a problem however with false advertisement. If Fox is going to take their cues from the the White House, then why advertise as fair and balanced? You could argue that CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and all the other cable news networks have a liberal bias;but they don't advertise themselves as fair and balanced. I usually don't rely on ANY cable news network, or a lot of print sources for my information.
July 27, 200818 yr If anyone truly thinks that Obama's camp did this, then I have only one word - ridiculous. Whether he did or didn't, I think it would be naive to think that today's politicians would be above any tactic to gain an edge... I'm not saying Obama or his camp are responsible for this, and this is more of a comment on today's political climate from me...I think politicians would do almost ANYTHING to accomplish their goal, and this definitely doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility, IMO. Personally, I doubt this was part of some plan or strategy by Obama...I just think things like this are possible (by any politician).

You could always vote for Bob Barr, he is a true Libertarian Republican down to the last bone.
July 27, 200818 yr Where does it say that in the constitution? Since you have becoms such a strict constructionist where does it say abortion is a right in the constitution. Sorry to threadjack yet again but this is twice now that this poster has used strict interpretation of the constitution to back up one of his arguments, I would really like to hear him rebut the questions I have asked concerning his main interest and strict interpretation.

July 27, 200818 yr You could always vote for Bob Barr, he is a true Libertarian Republican down to the last bone. That would be wasting a vote and probably end up helping Obama much in the same way that Perot is responsible for getting Clinton elected the first time.

It doesn't, hence why abortion is the problem for the state's to decide. Along with Gay marriage.
July 27, 200818 yr That would be wasting a vote and probably end up helping Obama much in the same way that Perot is responsible for getting Clinton elected the first time. Probably. But have you checked out Bob Barr's positions. We really need to move past the two party system.
July 27, 200818 yr It doesn't, hence why abortion is the problem for the state's to decide. Along with Gay marriage. So then if Kentucky outlawed all abortions in the state you would be OK with that and not support the ACLU in the inevitible lawsuit that would follow?
July 27, 200818 yr So then if Kentucky outlawed all abortions in the state you would be OK with that and not support the ACLU in the inevitible lawsuit that would follow? I think as long as Abortion would be legal in some states, and their would be no repercussions for one traveling out of state to attain an abortion, then the ACLU would semi-Ok with it. Even in that situation, I guess I would have to send my donation check that I am going to send every year to a planned parenthood in another state. BTW, America needs people like the ACLU, because civil liberties do become infringed on more than you would think.

I hate that this thread has been jacked BUT any time any state has done anything to try and restrict abortion the ACLU has filed suit so reality does not follow your premise. The merits of the ACLU are for another thread.
July 27, 200818 yr The bottom line is that the mainstream media is acting very unprofessionally in transparently promoting Barack Obama's candidacy. The media is extremely liberal and they are providing a disproportionate measure of free publicity to an extremely liberal candidate. Since when were all things equal in this country? And aren't these media outlets allowed to promote whomever they choose? Just like "Big Oil" is allowed to make as much money off us idiots as they can, right?
July 27, 200818 yr Since when were all things equal in this country? And aren't these media outlets allowed to promote whomever they choose? Just like "Big Oil" is allowed to make as much money off us idiots as they can, right?Nowhere have I said that all things are equal in this country nor have I said that the media should not be free to promote whomever they choose for president. I have only pointed out the obvious bias and the lack of professionalism that the media has shown in its handling of the Obama candidacy. If liberals want a biased media, then they should stop taking cheap shots at Fox Newsl If Fox News is biased to the right, then it is serving as a very small counterbalance to the overwhelmingly liberal bias in the news media.

The same could be said for Conservatives who complain about the left biased media. Stop complaining about one and praising the other...
