SEC No. 2 for most NCAA infractions

A little surprised the SEC wasn't #1....

SEC No. 2 for most NCAA infractions

The Southeastern Conference can boast back-to-back national titles in football and men's basketball, the nation's premier women's basketball program and record attendance in college stadiums every autumn.

But there's one leaderboard the SEC would prefer not to be associated with.

The league's successes run parallel with its excesses. Since the NCAA began tracking major infractions cases in 1953, the SEC institutions have been penalized 48 times, an average of sanctions every 13½ months.

That's in line with other conferences.

Here's a better title for this article:

Big 12 No. 1 for most NCAA infractions

What I always find funny is how UK is one of the worst offenders in the nation and yet nearly the entire state has convinced themselves that UofL is a dirty/dirtier program. I guess that is the benefit of blind loyalty and popular majority.

Been down this road many many times, good luck! :thumb:

They're all dirty. Much like Indiana, UK has just managed to let itself get caught.

Try as you may to drag IU into this....not happening.

Funny, when I bring UK into a conversation I get ripped.

Good day.

No offense, 98, but how could you not infer that you were bringing IU in to the discussion with post #4 when you have argued before, provided links, etc. that IU has been less dirty than UK (paraphrasing here).

IMO, all schools and conferences are relevant to this thread and the article.

Don't get too flattered, IU just happens to be the big name program that is in trouble currently. I won't ever rip you for bringing UK into this conversation because the numbers speak for themselves - 6 all-time infractions.

And, like I stated earlier, they pretty much all cheat in one way or another - even at the NAIA level.

Been close to 20 years since UK had a run-in with the NCAA in hoops. Roselle and Newon laid down before the NCAA and took one, when they really could have fought it. Dewayne Casey could have won that case in court and I seriously don't think he placed the money in there, nor do I think anyone placed that money there from UK.

Newton, who is very overrated in my opinion, and Larry Ivy let Mumme run the playhouse, particularly Claude Bassett, so they got hit. Poor leadership at the AD level in my opinion.

Who has levied that UL was a dirty program?

Indiana will certainly be welcomed to the board now.

You are very well informed, indeed, "LABS".

You have hit the nail on the head, again!

I am one UK fan that will admit that they have had far more run-ins with the NCAA than UL.....................that is really hard to argue. It would not have surprised me to see Petrino lead the Cards down that path if he would have stayed, but that is just my opinion.

You ain't cheatin you ain't tryin'.
