This is really cool.... Sheldon Clark has set up a webcam so you can wach the progress of their turf field as it develops. This will give a really good example of how the turf process works for any school/booster interested.

 

Also, if you click on "Scoreboard Project" you can see SC's new scoreboards they will be installing.

It sure looks different from the last time we were there. 10 years different!!!! Good for them to finally get a quality facility. Sheldon Clark's surface reminded me somewhat of Dudley's village over on Pine Mountain.

I think Owensboro has turf now ... to my knowledge, the only school in the western end of the state to have it.

The consolidation could not include a merging of High Schools....Sheldon Clark is the only public HS in the county. IMO, this consoldiation is taking place at the elementary and middle school levels. No knowledge if the rumored Martin Co HS name is true or not.......

With Sheldon Clark's move to turf, as well as Hazard's... coupled with the new alignment.

 

If Belfry wins every game this season, that means they will have played 16 of their 17 games on turf (including scrimmages)..as it stands now Belfry will host Boyd County and Hazard (while Hazard's field finishes) for scrimmages.

 

Their regular season away games are at Pikeville, SC, Johnson Central, and Lawrence County (only non-turf field).

 

Winning all games means Belfry would be the #1 seed in Region 4 District 8.

 

Thus they would host the first two rounds of the playoffs.

 

They would then host the 1 Seed from District 7 as it is an Even Numbered Year.

 

They would host the winner of Region 3 in the Semi's (Breathitt/Harlan) because it is an even number year as well.

 

The State Championship would be on the turf of Papa John's.

Does anybody know if Cooper's new field will be grass or turf?

Lexington Area: 4

EKY Area: 5

Louisville Area: 3

 

Kind of interesting that there aren't more in the Louisville area. Do you think it's a matter of preference, or more of a monetary issue, because of the large central school system there?
