June 23, 200818 yr Driving through Kansas is extremly boring, nothing but corn fields! I-70 from Kansas City to Colorado. The absolute worst 8 years of your life. You are correct! I was just getting ready to add that. I-70 for 780 miles across Kansas is just terrible. The best you can hope for is being the passenger in a vehicle with a sunroof so that you can look at the (more interesting) clouds. :thumb: Edited June 23, 200818 yr by True blue (and gold)
June 23, 200818 yr West of Louisville on 64 to anywhere. Yeah, actually couple 260 miles on I-64 with 780 miles of I-70 and I am not sure how I survive the trip to Colorado to visit my family there. Thankfully, most years (including this one - I leave Saturday) I fly.
June 23, 200818 yr From Nashville to Memphis. Whooooop Oh Boy!!!!!!!:creepy: Ding ding.... Made that drive after midnight one time...then took a left turn in Bolivar, TN...15 or so minutes before Memphis, and drove 1 hour into Mississippi on a two lane road of nothing but wildlife and headlights, to Holly Srings, MS. I-40 from outside of Bristol to Asheville after midnight and rain is not fun, with the fog and downhill tunnels. I hate the drive to Columbus, OH outside if Mason.
June 23, 200818 yr The WK Parkway is definitely the worst. Anything that makes you long for the "variety" of that one rest stop in Ohio County is just a bad road. The Cumberland Parkway between BG and Columbia is quite boring. It doesn't seem that long, though, once you get past the lake. The BG Parkway isn't too bad, but I never drive it from one end to the other. Were I doing that more often, I might have a different opinion. And I-65 from E'town to Bowling Green is very, very boring. As far as out-of-state trips go, Nashville-Memphis takes forever. But if you really are having trouble with insomnia, drive I-74 from Cincy to Davenport, Iowa. It's no wonder my dad would always have trouble staying awake when we made that trip.
June 23, 200818 yr Atlanta to LaGrange GA, then onto Opelieka, AL is a hoot. 75 from Chattanooga to Knoxville is boring. A lot of my roadtrip travels have occured after 11:00....last legs of trips. Valdosta to Macon is boring....and long.
June 23, 200818 yr Kansas. YES!!! WE have a winner!! Driving from Washington State to Memphis and back, I found that Kansas was the WORST!!! Horrible, yucky, crying boring....I hated that part of the drive worse than anything.
June 23, 200818 yr For me, the WK is the second worst drive, second only to I-65 North, anywhere from just beyond Jeffersonville to Chicago. The drive on I-64 from Louisville to Evansville used to bore me....now it's frustrating because there must at least a 30-50 mile stretch where it's one lane and 45MPH....I thought I was going to go crazy trying to not hit the old man in front of me as I watched the equally impatient driver behind me shout on his cellphone in my rearview mirror. If I was a better lip reader, I might have been able to know everything he was cursing about. :lol: I made this drive...(adding it up)....12 times between November and March which included driving an hour and a half south of Louisville. I know every rest area and every exit. I get off to go home at Exit 230 and I break up the trip into distinct parts: Louisville to Seymour at Exit 50. From there to Indianapolis (mile marker 110). From Indy to Lafayette at Exit 172 and then from there to Exit 230. I usually drive it non-stop but it is mentally easier if I don't think about the whole trip at once.
June 23, 200818 yr Driving through Indiana and any drive over two hours. Sorry but I have severe issues with long drives in a car!
