Sad, He is on of the reason I enjoy Government

Tim Russert was the epitome of what broadcast journalism is supposed to be. "Fair and balanced" wasn't just a promotional slogan with him ... it was his way of conducting business.

 

You could tell by watching "Meet the Press" that his guests had a genuine affection and respect for him, and it was obvious that they appreciated the way he went about his craft.

 

His loss is huge loss for journalism ... he may be the most liked and respected journalist of his time.

 

Couldn't agree more. What a great journalist, and somebody who gave us an excuse to get up early Sunday and fight through the hangovers. (Those of us who are not dedicated church-goers, that is.)

Such sad news. He was one of my favorites. This year's presidential election will not be the same without Tim Russert.

Very sad news. A terrific interviewer and political analyst who by all accounts was an even better family man and friend. He will be greatly missed.

:thumb: Good post and I certainly agree with the bolded sentence. Like I said in my earlier post, I respected and admired the man. I was just watching some programming on Fox News about Russert. Russert was no doubt the best that NBC had, (imo the only good one on NBC).

Some may think that Fox is evil but I can tell you that everyone that I heard on fox this evening was saddened and honestly hurt by this news. Russert would have and did fit in with both parties bc he was fair to both parties, he was tough but they knew that and respected him for it.

As others have said, maybe his greatest quality didn't have anything to do with politics but rather the fact that he was a great family man and always put that first. So again......R.I.P. Tim Russert. (had you ran for office I probably would have voted for you......especially this November )

This is weird...I was in the library today with the kids and on a table, I saw his book, "Wisdom of our Fathers", and I picked it up and thumbed through it...and pondered checking it out because the other book he wrote, "Big Russ", I believe was supposed to be very good...I set it down however...

Then I get home and see where he died...weird.

 

Autopsy said he had an enlarged heart and that cholesterol plaque burst an artery. He had been diagnosed with some heart issues but passed a stress test in April.

I feel terrible for his family. I hope the Good Lord can find some way to comfort them.

I believe that the Sunday talk shows are all taped on Sundays. Tom Brokaw will be anchoring the show today, which will review his "life and career."

I thought so also, but they said on MSNBC the other day that he was in his office doing voiceovers and they talked to two people that he had interviewed for the show. I can't remember their names. So I am interested in seeing what happens at 9:00.
