Wow that's a pretty bold prediction, especially for a 22 year old that has been dominating in the minors.

 

I hope I'm wrong, but to predict that a minor league pitcher who was a throw in in a trade not winning 10 games in one year I don't think is bold. Really good minor league players get overmatched in the big leagues more than they pan out. But I hope I'm way way off.

The Reds should really try to make a move to get a solid pitcher IMO. None of the others are ready to come up. If they aren't going to make a move, the next logical choice would be Affeldt IMO

Homer Bailey!!!

I went with Maloney, as said the Reds need a LHP in the rotation and if this guy has been throwing well then give him a shot. I realize that Bailey has good stuff but if he can't throw it over the plate it doesn't matter what he has got. I don't know how he has done this season though.

 

I am very glad to see the Reds getting prospects from within their own sysytem, imo that is the way to build a baseball team and then trade, go to free agent market for a kicker now and then when you can.

What is the deal with Homer. He must be uncoachable to an extent. B/c IMO with the stuff he has, he would have honed it enough to where the Reds would at the very least give him another start if he was truly trying? Thoughts?

Don't forget this while everyone is getting excited about Thompson, Bailey, and Molony. Belisle got everyone out at AAA before he came up earlier in the year. Fogg is proven. Good

I agree with most of you guys, Maloney should be the 5th starter as of now. and if that does not work out, it's time to call up Bailey.

One thing that needs to be taken into account is that both Thompson and Bailey are on the 40 man roster, while Maloney is not. There are a few names on that 40 man roster though, that shouldn't be too hard to take off.

Agree, but I would have given him the starting job as a filler yesterday instead of Foggy. I would still peg him as a 5 or 6 inning fill-in starter until they can settle on a regular #5.

If they can't decide on one of the youngsters within the next few days, stick Affeldt in the slot for a couple of starts.
